Beacon-Journal - The Cleveland Cavaliers have reached a contract agreement with free-agent point guard Damon Jones. It is a four-year deal worth $16 million, according to an NBA source who spoke with Brian Windhorst. The deal has incentives that could push the value to near $20 million.
Jones has been on the Cavaliers' radar screen for months. The 3-point specialist averaged 11.6 points and 4.3 assists. Most importantly, he shot 43 percent from 3-point range, hitting 225 of them in all.
The Cavaliers had offered him a contract last month and waited weeks for a response. Jones had preferred to return to the Miami Heat and that looked like it would happen after the Heat failed to sign Michael Finley.
so when all is said and done, and after lebron leaves for ny, the cavs are left with damon jones, larry hughes, and Z - NASTY!!!
oohah official prediction: Damon Jones is not as good playing with Lebron as he was with Shaq.
Reason: Damon Jones is best at camping out on the perimeter and shooting long bombs. He won't have the chance to just set his feet and wait for the ball like he could in Miami.
oohah
What's a better deal? $5.8 mil per for Jerome James or $5.0 mil per with incentives for Damon Jones?

I'd have to say that 5.0 mill for a 3rd string SG (he'd be behind Q and Craw) is nowhere near as good at 5.8 for a starting center.

do u think isiah should of givin big game a lower contract with incentives, to bring out the best
I don't think james would have taken it...I think he would have stayed in Seattle for less, I think this is the only way he was going to come to new york. the exact contract he was offered and accepted.
Could we have gotten a better deal? We could get a better deal for Curry than 4/40 mill, but he won't come to NY for a better deal, to come to new york, players want more than to play for a memphis or charlotte or just stay with their own teams.
If I was offered a position in New York from small market in my current career, it has to be for more money...which ofcourse, is why I work in nyc.

I'd have to agree. Even if James turns out to be nothing more than an 18 mpg role player, I think he'll have more of an impact than Jones would have on any team that doesn't have Shaq drawing double and tripple teams.

His did have a good season playing for the Bucks before he got to Miami. He's always up there with assist to turnover ratio and he is an underated passer.
I think he'll fit in well with Lebron and company.
