I'm guessing there will be a press conference today to introduce Eddy. Anyone hear if they've announced one yet?

Still waiting patiently for that one... I'm also curious about what number Eddy's going to wear.
Hope he gets his jersey today, as expected.

PhilinLA @ 10/6/2005 11:05 AM
I'm interested to see what Larry will do with Mo Taylor. He can really come in and score down low.
bobs3304 @ 10/6/2005 11:06 AM
That's a pretty weak breakdown of minutes man.

You have Frye, AD, Curry, JJ, Malik, and Mo all getting minutes at the 4 and 5.

Frye won't start. Either will Lee at SF.

Rookies are rookies. It's that simple.

At Center, AD, Frye, Rose, JJ, and Curry will see minutes, with JJ and Curry seeing the bulk.

At PF, Frye, Malik, AD, and Mo will see minutes. Except PF will be a tossup as far as minutes.

Curry(30), James(20)
Rose(15), AD(15), Frye(15), Taylor(5+)

What I hope is that he plays for the front of the Jersey not the back. I hope Larry Brown can have our favorite team play hard and have some pride about the city.

HardCore: did you hear about JJ showing up outta shape? He is also sat out injured from the last part of practice. Scary. Thank god we got Curry. I wanna hear what he is like in practice. I hope he gets along with Stephon and Brown.

agree 100%. I have no doubt AD is the starting PF and Curry is the starting 5. AD may also be a guy that finishes. I think you see something like AD getting 20-25 minutes at PF/C
96 minutes at PF/C will look something like this to START the year:
Curry 30
AD 25
Frye 20
JJ 15
Mo T/Rose - spot with Rose getting some time at SF

I agree fishmike, except I think you might see Curry getting a little less playing time, like ohhh, 25 minutes a game, and Davis and Rose getting more time, but as the season progresses, I think you'll see Frye and Curry snag some of those minutes. Maybe even the newly named Jerone " Big LBUTI" James will get a couple of extra minutes. That's if the Doctors can cure the swelling in his ovaries.
PhilinLA @ 10/6/2005 11:10 AM
"Brown has his big men run the floor more than most coaches..."

This statement from the article above brought a tear to my eye.

I've not started eating crow yet on JJ AND moT, however, I did read a report yesterday that LB was
a) leaning towards starting MoT at PF
b) NOT starting curry and James together ever

So, while I've look into a couple of restaurants serving crow, I'm waiting on another crappy report for either JJ or MoT before I book a reservation.

The sig stays the same though.
rvhoss @ 10/6/2005 11:38 AM
oh, so that means Curry is the center of our future and James/Frye will split time with Frye playing PF and C where needed.

rvhoss: I heard from a few people that JJ and MoT showed up out of shape.

I was pretty high on JJ in the summer and I dont wanna eat crow either. I hope this guy get into gameshape.

One or two days into training camp and not even all the players have shown up. It's a little crappy reporting by whomever to suggest that MoT will start. When the reports come out after a few preseason games, then we can all start banking on real info.
rvhoss @ 10/6/2005 11:44 AM
yeah, but this MoT and JJ banged up news is disheartening to say the least.

The only consolation is that most of us don't think they will be major contributors to our success this year.

Maybe they are LB's corliss (JJ) and elden (MoT).

Is Sundov still on the team?

Oh yeah, forgot, this is a Curry thread...Today's NYTimes article (unavailable on the web for some reason and I'm a member) was pretty good, mentioning the pro's and con's like fishy's post yesterday.

I'm satisfied he won't drop dead until after we win a championship. (if those are offended by the drop dead line, apologies, just throwing from the cuff ala cornheiser)

I heard that Big Game strained his lefft hammy, and also reaggravated some previously pulled ligaments in his left thumb. The article also stated that he shouldn't be missing significant practice (thank God).

Smits?

Smits used to kill the Knicks and Ewing!!! That is a fact!!! I was watching NBATV the other day with Browns Indiana Team taking on the Knicks.

If Brown can get Curry to play the way Smits did under Brown then we are gonna be a terror! Smits did alot of movement.....screen and rolls....all of a sudden Smits gets open for a dunk or a jumpshot.....

I'm drooling on my keyboard!!!
HARDCOREKNICKSFAN @ 10/6/2005 12:04 PM
The Dunking Dutchman... ahh, the memories of that Knicks-Pacers rivalry. The best part about it was that the hate was mutual.

LB can definitely do the same for Curry as he did for Smits, if not better.

Ha!

I lost it at the Garden once during one of those games when Smits was owning Ewing, just owning him. i started screaming, "I f'g hate the Dunking Dickhead!!!"

How can u compare Curry to smits, there game is entirely different, the only thing they have i common is the position they play.. Smits was no shot blocker, not very mobile to say the least, and had much better range then curry will probably ever have. Curry is strong, mobile, very athletic, and is a monster in the paint.

Also when u think about tyson along side curry, it's almost always difficult to get a double team on him ( curry) because tyson was never that far from the paint.

Not to sound negative, but our pf position( the most competive in the nba) is as suspect as it gets. Frye, mo and rose, are back ups and everyone here knows it. Never mind there playing shape, none of them are a real threat ( at least not consistant threat).

if you saw who larry coached in the past, big men and frontcourt in general have always flourished under his system:

la clippers: charles smith/ danny manning
sa spurs: david robinson
indiana: rick smits/ dale boys (ant. & dale)
philly: theo ratliff/mt. mutumbo
detroit: big ben/ sheed

imagine what he will do for curry and frye.

Other than charles tap.tap.tap Smith, all those players were good reguardless of brown. They all play defense well ( very well in some cases). Frye seems like he wants to block every shot, as oppose to just defending a shot which will ultimately land him in foul trouble almost every time. Curry is a decent defender, but not much of a shot blocker which lands him on the bench, in ft.

Frye didn't foul out of a game his entire senior year. my guess is that he was just all hopped up for summer league and he'll settle down.
