Smits?

if you saw who larry coached in the past, big men and frontcourt in general have always flourished under his system:

la clippers: charles smith/ danny manning
sa spurs: david robinson
indiana: rick smits/ dale boys (ant. & dale)
philly: theo ratliff/mt. mutumbo
detroit: big ben/ sheed

imagine what he will do for curry and frye.

Other than charles tap.tap.tap Smith, all those players were good reguardless of brown. They all play defense well ( very well in some cases). Frye seems like he wants to block every shot, as oppose to just defending a shot which will ultimately land him in foul trouble almost every time. Curry is a decent defender, but not much of a shot blocker which lands him on the bench, in ft.

Frye didn't foul out of a game his entire senior year. my guess is that he was just all hopped up for summer league and he'll settle down.

who was frye's summer league coach? (hint, it wasn't a hall of famer)

In College he played defense great and did not get in foul trouble almost every time.

Why is summer league becoming Frye's defining legacy?

I'd ignore the summer league unless you are looking at these numbers:

Gee- Channing has a web site already? I hope he lives up to his own hype!

rvhoss @ 10/6/2005 1:04 PM
the human frye swatter...now that he doesn't have to save the franchise by himself, I expect him to become a well rounded contributor to the knicks championship run in 06-07...it'll suck losing to ___________ but it will be magical.

Frye is gonna be a great player for the Knicks. He's got loads of talent and a high basketball IQ.
Nalod @ 10/6/2005 1:08 PM
Smits is different that Curry, the point was Smits became a monster and used to kill us! We were all convinced Ewing would shut him down but Indy used him so well, and I am pumped Larry can utilize curry to max his ability. And add new ones to boot!

>> rvhoss: I heard from a few people that JJ and MoT showed up out of shape.

A few people like who?

If no one is allowed in practice , what was the actual source of the information?

Besides, if they ain't in shape in two - three weeks, they will be history

Bulledat

james looked a little bigger than he did last year when he was in the best shape of his career. He wasn't terrible, he'll be in game shape come Nov. Mo taylor looked the same as he did last year and at the katrina charity game..FAT!

Blast from the past.
This thread is gold. I especially love Eny talking about the media being evil liars for saying Eddy Curry was a bum.

The need for Curry became apparent when their summer center acquisition, Jerome James, pulled up lame yesterday on Day 2 of training camp.
...
It hasn't been a good first few days for James, first losing his starting job to Curry, then being injured.

Jerome James was too be the starting center!
Gold!

Oh boy, this is so long ago and look at us still at it!
Eddy heart went bonkers over Ephedra which is now a banned substance but very popular for weight loss and energy boast.
Bulls offered him $600k to retire. Instead Isiah did this:

On October 4th, 2005, the Chicago Bulls signed-and-traded center Eddy Curry, center-forward Antonio Davis and a 2007 1st round draft pick (Wilson Chandler) to the New York Knicks for guard Jermaine Jackson, forwards Mike Sweetney and Tim Thomas, a 2006 1st round draft pick (LaMarcus Aldridge), a 2007 1st round draft pick (Joakim Noah), a 2007 2nd round draft pick (Kyrylo Fesenko) and a 2009 2nd round draft pick (Jon Brockman).

Old history. But there was a stretch were Eddy was playing great under Larry. We know how it ended.

Just because a man has boobs doesn't mean he has a vagina!

Oh dear.
ToddTT @ 9/30/2021 1:37 PM
Wait… did we sign Curry?!? Are we cutting Randle to make room for him???

Oh man are we gonna be formidable!!!

In all seriousness though, I wish Eddy the best. Now get this thread outta here!

Working the Catskills still doing a great comedic impression of Grant Hill.
That, or still smug that "We the North" became NBA champions!
