nice signing...too bad it's 3 years too late...uggggh.
Wow...I think we needed a guy to loosen up the locker room a bit.
he's an excellent leadoff hitter. We haven't had one since Knobby! At some point some young stud superstar CF will become available for us and then Damon can be moved to RF or DH but for now he is an excellent option!

So does George make him shave and cut his hair?
We get the leadoff hitter that we need and a body in CF but the big thing is we annoy the crap out of the Red Sox and their fans.
Yo man Brian Cashman is the man.....the Boss says he wants someone and Cashman goes out and gets him. I can't believe this one.
Jeez Louis Rice and Peas......What else do the Yanks need? They have all-star calibur players at every position.
The Red Sox fans must all be on suicide watch as we speak

Damon, Jeter, A-Rod, Sheff, Matsui, Giambi, Posada, Cano and Bernie(maybe)......Wow

yea isles, I can live with this, damon was not dissing the yanks as I recall like his idiotic teamates were doing last year, hey we stomached roger clemens and won two rings with him, Hopefull damon can do the same with us here in NY.... he has a weak arm but he can cover CF in yankee stadium, that he has proven... anyway just imagine Damon and jeter along with A-rod at the top of that lineup... wow!!
I'm really against this signing. In the last few years Damon has broken down towards the end of the season and his play in CF is less than average. The Yankees don't need ANY help offensively, they need it defensively. I would have used Crosby in CF for a month and see who became available in May via trade.
haha... just what the yankees needed, another outfielder that has no arm.

Yanks are truly the evil empire! Damon is like having two Derek Jeters.
Where do you pitch to the Yanks?
Here is the clean shaven version we'll be seeing in Pinstripes.

edit: Hey the mofo's changed the picture on me!!!!!

Good pick up...but still have to somewhat despise the socky in him...
Since money grows on trees for the Yankees and there's no cap, I have no problem with this signing. Damon's no superstar but he's a better player than Crosby or Bernie. The bullpen is the big concern. The team has made some nice recent decisions for the bullpen but there are still a lot of question marks.

It's Damon, not Nomar

Not nitpicking like others, just making sure you were talking about the right guy
Wtf.
This is some bullshit.
Don't worry about the Red Sox thing...don't forget we bagged Wade Boggs and Roger Clemens, who were the ULTIMATE Red Sox, prior to the championship Sox.
A needed pickup I think, that will solidify the defense and the top of the order (not that it was exactly weak).

Disagree about the defense, his arm is extremely weak. I still think they should have used Crosby in CF until May to see who became available via trade. Crosby was good defensively and although his bat is weak, the Yankees could have definately lived with Crosby batting 8th or 9th for awhile, they certainly don't need more offense.

bernie not getting to balls as he got older was a bigger problem then his throwing which was never any good but we still won. johnny tracks down balls

When have the Yankees won when Bernie was "old"? The last time the Yankees won the World Series was 5 years ago when Bernie was 32 years old and had argubaly his best season in his career both hitting and fielding, he didnt make one error all year long. In the years the Yankees won Bernie always had good range and tracked down a ton of balls and his arm was decent, better than Damons, for that matter.
