For those of us stuck at work and without a tv or radio, how did it go down?
CrashDMB237 @ 3/9/2006 2:33 PM
What a freakin crazy finish. Mac is going to be an insane NBA PG. UCONN choked big time. Williams had two good looks and blew them both. What a waste of space Josh Boone is.
mrbean259 @ 3/9/2006 2:50 PM
doesnt matter 'cuse isnt going anywhere in the ncaa tournament...
Caseloads @ 3/9/2006 3:07 PM

Cuse had control of the game throughout and lost it in the last minute. They were down 1 when Josh Wright missed a little runner--Uconn hit 2 FTs to make it a 3 pt game. the strategy was keep the ball away from mcnamara but it failed and he hit a 3 to go to OT

it went b and forth and then cuse took a litle advatage a few tough 3s by uconn made it a 1 pt game G-mac made 1 FT. Uconn had a couple of tries at it including a 3, got the ball back and MW mised a tough floater in the lane.

No big deal, looking forward to the big Dance
McK1 @ 3/9/2006 3:20 PM
McNamara hit a long 3 to tie with 5 secs at end of reg.

Marcus Williams missed the game winner, Overtime.

Cuse got to the line and hit their free throws in OT. Only person who could hit a shot for UCONN was Denham Brown (2 huge 3's)

Marcus Williams missed the tying shot at the buzzer.

I was at University HOspital in Syracuse in the final minutes. We were working at something but then got pulled away to a TV. EVERYONE was watching. It was great. Funny ting too was that I had just finished saying that GMac was overrated(he still is) and he drills that 3!

I go back and forth about McNamarra. He gets double and even tripleteamed nearly everytime down the floor becuase Syracuse has absolutely no consistant post prescence that other teams have to worry about. One would say that the really good player would find a way to score the points even through all the double teams, others would say he is the only player worth worrying about on the court and its impossible for him to score through that. I go back and forth about it but Gerry has has put up a great last few games here, BIG TIME games.

Bottom line about McNamara is that he shoots 35.5% and his shooting % has gotten worse every year. It's rare to find regular players anyway who shoot that poorly from the field.

He's hit some big shots and has won a championship on the college level. He'll always have that.

Ugh, I hate SU. I went to school today wearing an orange shirt, not thinking about anything game related, only to find hundreds of others wearing orange and congratulate me on the game yesturday.
Mid way through the day, to avoid any more confusion, I simply taped a sign on my shirt that said the ever famous, "Can't spell SUCKS without SU". I mean, watching them pull out the win at the end was horrible, but pissing off 90% of the school? Priceless.

I think that this loss, strategically, could help Uconn IF the other #1 seeds move to atleast their championship games. Uconn should be penalized to the 4th number 1--but that sends them out west and that a place I want them to be.

Ive been pleading all year for them to post up Rudy Gay at 6-9 at the beginning of the game so that he can get into it right away--let Rudy take the first 2-3 shots and then get some more ball movement. This was the 2nd worst game they pkayed all year they shot 33% and it still took by a 35 footer to beat them[or in this case send it to ot where anything can happen]

Josh had 13 rebounds 3 blocks and has his worst shooting game since he came to uconn. rashad Andersen couldnt hit the side of a barn. rudy continued his dissspaearing act on the perimeter[hey the smart NBA team that gets him and learns to post him up will be looking quite smart--its possible he could slip some] the syracuse post players were able to get superior position and Syracuse beat them at their own game of pounding it down low--uconn decides to take 32 3s

I think they will go back to a war-like training camp and get ready for next week. I like this team and I know they have the juice to win it all--its hard to beat good tems 3 times in one season. I think they will come out refocused and implement something to get Rudy going from minute 1. He has just way to much talent to be sitting on that perimeter.

CUSE IS IN THE HOUSE OH MY GOD

bigbeast @ 3/9/2006 10:55 PM
The problem with Uconn this yr is they don't have that perimeter player who can create his own shot when you absolutely have to have it. They had Rip play that role in 99, and Ben Gordon play that role in 2004. Rudy Gay isn't that type of player yet, and Rashard is a spot up shooter.
They may sturggle when they run into a good team and it comes down to the wire. Marcus Williams is gonna end up taking the shot and he's a 39 % shooter.
daddynel @ 3/10/2006 12:23 AM
mcnamara's overrated.
