tale of 2 halves:
1st half = complete & utter domination by the Eagles
- the Eagles completely controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball... the GMen couldn't get anything going after that opening TD drive... horrible game played by our O-Line (in stark contrast to the good game they played last week)... Tiki was completely shut down & Eli was running for his life for most of the game
2nd half = showing of tremendous heart & resolve by Eli & the rest of the Giants team
- a few lucky bounces brought about by great effort & hustle (the Plexico fumble for a TD recovery by Tim Carter & the Bryant Westbrook fumble) as well as some bonehead penalties made by the Eagles to help the Giants along the way (that personal foul in the closing seconds of regulation was HUGE to put us in FG range for the tying score by Feely (very clutch kick btw)
- Eli showing more flashes of late game heroics, leading his team back from a 24-7 deficit in hostile territory w/a pass rush in his face all game long... he made some great passes under pressure to spark the comeback (that TD pass to Toomer to bring them w/in 3 late was the best pass he made so far this year)
- Amani Toomer, "old reliable" i'll call him from now on... the guy just does his job & is as solid as anyone we have on this team catching balls... & you never have to worry about him making some boneheaded play to cost us down the stretch like you might w/Shockey or Plex... what a game he had w/11 catches for 130+ yds.
- Plexico made some very acrobatic catches once again... he's clearly our most dangerous weapon downfield... u can't cover this guy 1 on 1.
- Brandon Jacobs - ok, this guy needs to get the ball in his hands more next week... he is a LOAD & has some surprising speed for a guy his size... he was the only effective running game we had all day... definitely a guy w/tons of upside potential
NO SHOWS - Thanks for nothing:
the O-Line
Shockey
Lavarr Arrington
the Giants' passrush
record is now 1 - 1 after 2 games w/the Colts & at Philly... i'll take that anyday... so we lost a game we should've won, & we won a game we should've lost... i guess that makes us even... it doesn't get any easier next week at SEA, probably the toughest place to play for a visiting team in the NFL cuz of the noise level... SEA is very tough at home... can we go into the bye week w/a 2-1 record? that would be too good to be true i think... but hey, i'm greedy.
