Kobe Bryant is the greatest individual basketball player in the National Basketball Association today.


It's Kobe's world and everyone else is a subservient spectator.
Not LeBron James. Not Dwyane Wade. Certainly not "no defense playing" Carmelo Anthony. It's Kobe Bryant. Whether we appreciate him or not, is besides the point. Bryant undeniably possesses skills on the court like no other in the game today. Kobe isn't the "next Big Thing," he is the Big Thing.

So why don't basketball fans embrace Bryant for his superior basketball skills?

Simple. For all of his talents on the court, Bryant isn't exactly as "talented" off the court. He fails to compromisingly accept the adage that "with great power comes great responsibility." He fails to willingly adhere to critical notions that he "doesn't make his teammates better." Unlike his many critics, Bryant understands he isn't a superhero. He is a basketball player. A great one, at that. In his mind, he'd just prefer if the Lakers went ahead and signed Spiderman. The "spidey-web" being the one thing to assure Spiderman touches the ball. You see, Kobe Bryant doesn't want to use his "great powers," or basketball talents to make his teammates better; he wants to prove he's better.

After Kobe put up the string of 50-point games, I had to come and read this article again.
