just heard on the FAN that Bobby's family released a statement to the Yankees that he had had Brain Surgery & that it was discovered that the tumor was malignant.
very sad news... my thoughts & prayers go out to Bobby & his family... hope he can fight through this, but it doesn't look very good.
Very sad news indeed. Too me, Bobby Murcers voice represents baseball and everytime I hear it, it makes me think of watching the Yankees in the hot summer heat. I hope he recovers and is back to the best of health. Selfishly, I hope he comes back to announce baseball sometime soon.
On another note.. Yankees broadcasts from now on have taken a huge hit with Kaat retiring and now Murcer sick. It's too bad because I love the Yankees but Michael is absolutely intolerable if you ask me.
Godspeed to Bobby and his family.
:( hope he pulls through.

i hear that bro... Bobby's not the most eloquent analyst in the world, but he always managed to put a smile on my face whenever i listened to him broadcast the games... there was hardly anything more relaxing than listening to his easy voice broadcasting the Yankee games on a lazy summer's day.
totally agree w/u about Kay too... he grates on my nerves to no end... i wish they'd just get Joe Girardi & Flaherty to do the games with Ken Singleton instead for every game so i wouldn't have to listen to Kay's rambling about the same stuff he whines about on his radio show.
