Its not a horrible move. It says to me that they think that they can spend better money on the O-Line and defense.
Droughns, Jacobs and a speed back from the draft won't be bad at all.
Dude, they got a two-time 1,200 yard rusher (once in Denver, once in Cleveland) for the bag of feces known as "Tim Carter." Brandon Jacobs is this team's eventual feature back and Droughns is just going to take some of the pressure off of him this season. It's a solid move for a guy who is going to get 5-10 carries a game. They didn't lose a ton of depth by giving up two third-rounders plus a seventh for McGahee... They didn't sign the broken down Jamal Lewis... Travis henry got a five year deal with $12 million in guarantees, something that is ridiculous to pay when the team has Jacobs.
I don't think Jacobs is gonna be that good. Jacobs likes to bang just like Jerome bettis but Jacobs doesn't have the moves or speed to be the dominant back. Droughns screwed up my fantasy team!! But the guy is good insurance. These guys could split time. Why not?
This is a good move.
Like I said in the other thread, the next move will be telling to what this new GM is all about. I'm already impressed with the cuts that were made. Like I said that next move will tell giant fans what is really good.
Jacob's runs a 4.4............ he is very fast. THe Rubben sigin is good, because is a running threat, pretty good as a reciever and can pass protect. Plus he started out as a Fullback, so you can play both in the back field.

It is extremely difficult, at best, to tell at this point how good Jacobs can be. He simply has not had a real chance to prove himself.
Jacobs definately has to prove what he can do as the top back. I think the giants will give him every opportunity to sucseed. Getting droughns just shows me that the giants are prepared just in case Jacobs has trouble. Droughns is cheap compared to how the market has been going for running backs. Cheap but this guys talent is right up there with the free agents this year. I'm really excited about how the giants are operating so far under the new GM.
Big blue/gang green superbowl?
Muahahaha!
if Jacobs can withstand the pounding he's gonna take next season, then i think he's easily capable of a 1000+ season... the only question i have about him will be his durability, because he loves to bang & that will wear on him.
