What are the Yankee fans' thoughts here? The starting pitching looks awful (and the bullpen, including Mariano

) doesn't look much better.
That's the problem. The pitching. Even when Mo is having problems, then you know it's just all out of balance right now. Personally, I just think they need some time together. This losing can't last forever. They'll be back, don't worry.

I guess and to some extent, pitching injuries (Mussina and Wang) have had a role in the bad start. But remember the days when Remiro Mendoza was the team's 6th or 7th starter? Now he'd probably be our ace! That's just scary!
I still wouldn't worry about it. It's a time of exploration for our pitching staff. That's a healthy thing. We might end up finding some one really good in our crops. That's usually how it happens, so it's kind of refreshing for that chance to arrive. I just hope George doesn't start going after old proven horses and trust's his management teams.
They just need to beat up on the Red Sox a few times to get their swagger back, get some healthy pitching - and they will be back.
On a side note - I am glad to see A-Rod finally hitting his stride in pin stripes, I think the media gives him a little too much grief.
He earned' the grief, but he's now earning a little respect. Good for him.

Injuries are no excuse according to most people on this board and in the media. They have a near $200 million payroll and let TB beat them. They have offense but do not play defense that well. Bad pitching is related to bonehead moves by Cashman. Does this sound familiar.

Only one-eight of the season is over. If they don't turn things around, I won't use an injury excuse for the Yankees either.
Auuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh................we haven't won in 35 years! They won 4 a few years back and a total of 26.
There such a thing as being able to afford to lose a little, if it means winning again in the long run. In our case, we lose and we cure it by losing more.
A thread like this gets started every year, and then the Yankees end up going on a torrid hot streak.
Lets see if this continues throughout the year. Hopefully the Yankees didn't call down Hughes to showcase him.

The Yankees aren't not playing in the same league. They have no restrictions on spending. They trade mistakes away at ridculous losses. Are you new to this game. The Yankees are in a different field. Not making the playoffs is not an option. Everyone expects them to make the playoffs. NO SALARY CAP puts pressure on the Yankees the same as a high salary is placed on the Knicks. Damn even the players get that. Torre got blasted by the media last year for bringing up the fact that "well we did pretty darn good this season" stuff. Yankee seasons are not judged on whether they can beat the Devil Rays in the regular season. Different standards. That's why a Big Stein wants to fire a Joe Torre losing to the Tigers in the first round.

And I'm usually the one who starts it!

I just like hearing what people here think about the Yankees. I'm curious what Fish thinks since he follows them so closely. Where has Fish been anyway??? I just realized he's almost never here now

I hope you are right Allanfan but I don't think it is something that will go away. Cashman is now starting to take hits for his pitching choices the last couple of years. Hughes looks good but Yankees blow up all their prospects but who knows. Mo doesn't look good at all and the bullpen is starting to show signs at being spent and it is April. Not to mention they weren't that great to begin with. I think bringing up Hughes was a mistake just in case you wanted to showcase him. I think he isn't going anywhere.

I noticed that too.
cashman knew wang was going to be on the DL, and he banked on having pavano, which was a mistake and this igawa kid is garbage.... yanks will bounce back. Hopefully, but their starting pitching is killing their bullpen....
i'm loving this .... and no it's not because i'm a Met fan
okay maybe it is!
Its all the bad karma still lurking from the knicks season. Its takes about a month to clear up. Yanks will get got like they always do and then they win the division, again.
If they don't? Who cares? The yanks can lose for the next 20 years and still would have more championships than any team in the history of sports. I saw 4 of them and was at every parade. Yankees are bad ass. Not one season of a generation of seasons can take that away from them.
Injuries are a valid excuse when you have GOOD players out. Also baseball is more of a team game. That being said, that if the Yankees were missing players for one-eighth of the season and had most of their core for the rest of the season, there's zero excuse for missing the playoffs.

Don't try to insult me on baseball. I been following it for 30 years and played it for 20. I already made my point. You know damn well that there's a difference here. Stop comparing the Yankees to the Knicks. This thread is about what's going on with the Yankees. I gave a simple answer and that's it.
