The owner of an upscale steakhouse in Louisville said he asked O.J. Simpson to leave his restaurant the night before the Kentucky Derby because he is sickened by the attention Simpson still attracts.

"I didn't want to serve him because of my convictions of what he's done to those families," Jeff Ruby said in a telephone interview Tuesday. "The way he continues to torture the lives of those families ... with his behavior, attitude and conduct."

Simpson, an NFL Hall of Famer and Heisman Trophy winner, was found innocent in 1995 of killing his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and Ron Goldman but was found liable in a civil trial that followed.

Ruby who owns restaurants in Cincinnati, Louisville and Belterra, Ind. said Simpson, who was in town for the Derby on Saturday, came in with a group of about 12 Friday night and was seated at a table in the back. A customer came up to Ruby and was "giddy" about seeing Simpson, Ruby said.

"I didn't want that experience in my restaurant," Ruby said, later adding that seeing Simpson get so much attention "makes me sick to my stomach."

He said he went to Simpson's table and said, "I'm not serving you." Ruby said when Simpson didn't respond, he repeated himself and left the room.

Ruby said Simpson soon came up to him and said he understood and would gather the rest of his party to leave.

Simpson's attorney, Yale Galanter, said the incident was about race, and he intended to pursue the matter and possibly go after the restaurant's liquor license.

"He screwed with the wrong guy, he really did," Galanter said by telephone Tuesday night.

Ruby said the incident had to do with Simpson's past.

"It was the first time since 1994 he has ever shown any class," Ruby said. "He showed it that night in the restaurant" by leaving quietly.

Out of all places O. J is tossed out of a steakhouse.

I would have done the same exact thing.

And The Killer can't do shit to the restaurant owner. On an individual basis, they can refuse service to anybody.

I can see this being viewed as racially motivated. And whether you care or not--I would think OJ would want to defend his rights here.

It could be racially motivated, but they'd have to prove it.
Was it a white neighborhood.

If it does go to court the owner needs to bring some pictures of large "parties" of non white people to court.
I think it's great what the owner did (if he was doing it cause OJ is a killer.

I'd do the same thing, if Bush was in a restaurant I owned. 1,000,000 Iraqy's is greater than a few people (no disrespect meant).
Let's get that on the news...

Yeah, if the owner of the restaurant had previously denied service to another person of color, for no apparent reason other than the color of their skin.

But if he denied The Killer service based solely on the fact that he didn't want his business associated in any way with someone that committed 2 homicides, was acquitted in a circus trial and then tried to profit off of the murders, then I believe it was justified.

Seems he qualified that he did not want a man who was guilty at a civil level and quite a celeberty to disrupt his evening. OJ's story is very wellknown so it should not reek of being racially motivated.

On the other hand the guy will get a nice pick up in buisness and be known as someone who stood up to OJ!

Phuch OJ!

"NEW, SHOCKING, NEVER BEFORE SEEN,
DOCUMENTED EVIDENCE"

A stunning turnabout in the highly publicized
Nicole Simpson and Ron Goldman murders…

By William C. Dear

“Never assume. Always verify.” Every detective, public defender, and investigative reporter should have those four words tattooed in black ink on their forehead. Then every time they would look at themselves in the mirror they would be reminded of the great responsibility they have to themselves and to the public to check their facts before jumping to conclusions. Lives are on the line – and not only those of the falsely accused.

Click on the link and read the 1st chapter of his book
here's an excerpt FROM Detective BILL DEAR:

Foremost on my list of unanswered questions was why police had let O.J. become a fugitive from justice in the first place? If indeed the LAPD had solid and incontrovertible blood evidence linking O.J. to the murders, and if reports were true that his bloody glove had been found at the crime scene, and that his shoe prints led from the victims to the alley behind Bundy Drive, it seemed inconceivable to me that LAPD hadn’t already arrested him, or at the least known where he was at all times.

Furthermore, I had to ask myself why the highway patrol didn’t stop the Bronco in Orange County, where it was first reported seen? Even if A.C. Cowlings hadn’t willingly pulled the Bronco over, the highway patrol could easily have set up a blockade or laid down a strip of metal tire tacks in the roadway that would puncture the Bronco’s tires and disable the vehicle. As a former Miami policeman and highway patrolman, I knew that this was the accepted procedure. Instead, the LAPD gave the entire freeway to the fugitives as they would for a visit from the President of the United States.

Nor did the LAPD appear to be in any rush to get O.J. handcuffed when he did reach his Rockingham estate. He was permitted to leave his car, enter his house, use the bathroom, telephone his mother and shake hands with family and friends before being taken into custody. Rather than arrest him back in Orange County ten minutes after the Bronco was spotted on the freeway, police and prosecutors permitted the drama to last all day and into the evening.
These were not the actions of a guilty man !

In retrospect, I regret not having been more candid. I was already disturbed by the eagerness of the journalists covering this story to focus their attention only on O.J. By not speaking up, or at least voicing serious concern, I now believe I was contributing to the problem facing anyone investigating or writing about the crime. From the moment O.J. made headline news there was a distinct lack of critical thinking taking place. The right questions were not being asked because everyone assumed that he was guilty. It was merely a question of tunnel vision— finding proof for what they believed to be true and ignoring the rest.

I would no longer remain silent about this case. However, before I risked challenging the status quo, I had to study the case from every conceivable angle and then check the facts. I had solved the majority of crimes in my career by doing just that. In one of my more recent high-profile investigations, that of sporting-goods mogul Glen Courson, I conclusively proved that Courson had been murdered, and had not committed suicide as police believed. In that case, the Irving, Texas police department had failed in the most fundamental way: No one had taken the time to closely examine the murder weapon to see that the breech-block firing mechanism was in a closed and locked position, and not partially open as it would have been after being fired. Dead men don’t eject spent shell casings.

I suspected that the LAPD had overlooked such details in their own rush to judgment. The only way for me to find out for sure was to visit the crime scene and check the facts out for myself.

He had a picture taken with OJ before...doubt it is based on race. Other than the fact that OJ is black what tells you this about race?
