We just had two new hires with very good experience and backgrounds. One started a little over a month ago and one started two weeks ago. Both talented guys.
Anyway, the guy who started two weeks ago decides Wednesday afternoon that he doesn't want to work there and quits. WTF??? Apparently he thought he could bully the team around and when my manager wasn't having it, he quit. Apparently from what we gathered, he thought that we would instantly drop what we're doing, adopt his new style of doing things on the first day... when he didn't get his way, he quit. Ok? Real team player there.
The other guy, the one who started a little over a month ago, got fired this afternoon. Apparently he wasn't getting things done, taking a REALLY long time on simple tasks. Then, to make matters worse, he was apparently saying the wrong things to a lot of people and complaining about a lot of various things which didn't make sense, such as that the women in the office were looking at him funny. Uh, what?
Anyway, this leads me to ask, is there something in the water? Two people who my company needed ... in the same week. Ugh.

What kind of work do you do?
the real reason is because they didn't like the way Solace smelled... but HR doesn't want to hurt his feelings.

No, my job is secure. The company is doing very well, no risk of getting fired unless you're not doing the job or not showing the right attributes. I'm in very good standing.
My ex girlfriend is a software engineer, loves NY, and would be super fun to work with.

I don't work in IT. That's a separate field. People often get them confused, I don't know why. Software engineers actually program the software. IT people administer it.
lol... yup, she's hot and funny as hell.

Interesting! Although I'm in NJ, about 20 mins from the GW. But if she's any good, I'd be interested in looking over her resume, having a quick chat and then passing it along if she sounds like she could do the job.

Haha, apparently someone read my innocent comments and made them dirty. Figures it would be the usual suspect.

Why are you trying to begrudge people who work in IT. It sounds like you almost pity them(us).

no begrudging there, Solace just explained the difference.

Yeah, no offense meant to IT people, nyk. It'd be like referring to the Knicks as baseball players. While it's true that they both play sports, so it's somewhat related, that's clearly not that field. Same with calling a software engineer an IT person.
