How the hell did you guys get to work today?
I know the one train was only going to 168 this morning, and right now its only operating to 14th. Service between south ferry and 14 is suspended for all 1, 2, and 3 trains.
I made it to work fine cuz Im out there before God wakes up. It all went downhill at about 630am.
Sheesh!
So how can we sue the Mta or the city for allowing the system to go without maintenance for 100 years?!?!?
Eny,
you should relocate. Really, its a great country. NY is great, but there are other places!
Here we go.

I usually take the 5 to Grand Central. 5 was only going to 180th - so I had to go take the D at 205th. D wasn't going to 205th so I had to walk from 205th to Bedford Park/Concourse. Took the D but it only went to 145th/St. Nick. Got off there - walked to Broadway (3 blocks). Waited a bit. Took the 1 down but it only went to 59th. Got off there, transferred, got back on the D to 34th.
The End.
If there was ever a need for the 2nd Avenue Subway to be built, it's this. Once the Lex lines go down, all hell breaks loose. Also, if I remember correctly, heavy rain is the reason why that steam explosion happened at Grand Central a couple weeks ago.

I was waiting for someone to mention con Ed. Both con Ed and the Mta need to explain to the citys inhabitants why the hell they let pipes and tunnels go over decades and decades without maintenance!
7 train was running from queens so took that into times square and walked down in this blazing african heat to 18th to work. i lost 7 pounds in the process.
The F train totally at hillside in queens was shut down. They had express buses come out to help but you would think hurricane katrina hit. People were going nuts. At least that's what enysis said. she couldn't make it to work.
What would happen if God forbid a hurricane hit nyc?

Eny, your what 28 and infrastructure grumpy already? GET OUT!
HOw about this, NYC on an island 200 years old and how many people? I think Con Ed, water dept, police, fire and MTA are incredible given the circumstances and limited funds.
Things go wrong, acts of god via weather and things do break! For the most part, maybe 95% of the time the whole thing works pretty good!
Nalod - I love ny. I don't want to go live in a van down by the river just yet. Everyday its pushing me there though.
I feel I could make changes as an activist but I'm allergic to bullets. You know they kill radical folks for fighting the good fight.
There was a tornado in Brooklyn?
Sounds like more than just a little rain.
http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/08/08/nyc.wea...Wow.
That was one of the things I always said I never had to worry about while living in NYC. Incredible.

At least by the river, its a waterfront view!!!!
I live in the downtown area, so I had to walk till I found a bus or cab. I couldn't find one until I hit astor place where I squeeze into a M2 to 60 street. It was great felt like I was in a pack sauna room with alot of fat elbows everywhere
