Ad Campaign Targets PETA for Killing Over 14,000 More Animals than Michael Vick
Ads Draw Attention to PETA’s Policy of Euthanizing Adoptable Animals in their Care
WASHINGTON- Today the nonprofit Center for Consumer Freedom (CCF) ran a full-page ad in The New York Times highlighting the hypocrisy of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). PETA’s campaign against NFL quarterback Michael Vick is disingenuous given that PETA itself has killed over 14,000 more animals than the NFL star.

The text of the ad reads:

Who’s killed more animals? Vick (8) or PETA (14,400):
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) loves to point the finger at others, when they should be looking at their own record of killing more than 90% of the animals left in their care. According to government records PETA has killed more than 14,400 animals since 1998.

“PETA has shamelessly used the horrific Michael Vick case to pad their group’s coffers, even though their track record of slaughtering thousands of helpless, adoptable animals is far more damning,” said CCF Director of Research David Martosko. “Americans need to be aware of how PETA treats animals in their care and reject the group’s overt hypocrisy.”

Documents obtained by the Center for Consumer Freedom from the Virginia State Veterinarian show that between 1998 and 2005 PETA killed more than 14,400 dogs, cats, and other animals.

In addition to the thousands of animals that were killed at their headquarters, two PETA employees in North Carolina admitted to killing dozens of dogs and cats in a roving “death van” and tossing their bodies into a trash dumpster.

“Instead of weighing in on the actions of others, PETA's leaders need to take a look in the mirror,” Martosko concluded. “If their group is going to euthanize thousands of healthy dogs and cats each year, Americans will never take their criticism of Vick and others seriously.”

on second thought, this is a right wing smear group. The only known funding they recieved was 900,00 from Phillip Morris. Cant trust a non profit consumer group that is funded by one of the most evil corporations on the planet.

Its like trusting a guy with a degree from the George W. Bush school for critical thinking and nuanced thought.

PETA may have some skeletons in their closet, and certainly they werent the only ones trying to make a mountain out of a molehill with this Vick thing, but this consumer group has no credibility at all. I should have checked further before I posted this.

Justifying one wrong by using another is fool's gold.

He isn't justifying a wrong. He is exposing the fraudulant.

They're both wrong is the point...

One isn't better than the other; just one is less worse.

One is less worse? Which one is worth less? PETA delivers stress, while vick got the verdict now awaits his sentence. Philips evils pumps funds to mislead you. takes a forum poster to help you see through. You see it as justifiable I see it as you denying truth. The words true not subliminal no matter where it go the letters remain logical imprinting in your mind through your optical. Knowledge is the cure cuz you sick like a hospital icu, where you see me is on countdown thread givin respect due to the orange and blue on the first page just before it cuts to page 2. Vick belongs in jail, this topic is mad stale, waste of space on the knick lovers scale.

Yada, yada, yada, Aug 28th is tomorrow. Its fittin to be good in knick land.

If you are part of a far left or far right group you have probably left the land of common sense and moved into a land of hypocrisy and lunacy. These groups are ridiculous and should be marginalized. But Vick still deserves the punishment he got.

Vick tortured animals. Peta believes in euthanasia for animals that don't have homes and they advocate spaying and neutering animals so that more unwanted animals aren't created. Peta makes it well known that there shelters are a last resort for people who cannot care for their animals. Peta has many questionable tactics, but that doesn't do anything to condone Vick's disgraceful behavior.

actually PETA doesn't believe in spaying and neutering animals. they believe that no animal should be domesticated. they advocate euthenasia for all dogs, cats and farm animals. don't confuse PETA with the Humane society. PETA is just about as radical as you can get.

Animals Rights is bigger than a group like PETA. They hold no special right to speak for anyone. They are just one voice.
Bippity10 @ 8/29/2007 10:08 AM
PETA is just the loudest and most radical so they get the most play. But I think opinions about "animal rights" should come from everyday people. I'm with Kam77 why is it that the most radical groups are said to be the true advocates.
