Palxico, Steve Smith, Amani Toomer, Boss all these guys are gone and now his game is hurting because all the reliable receivers that he had are all gone. Last year he had to work Nicks and Manningham into the rotation still managed to throw over 4,000 yards. How many of his interceptions were deflected into the opponents hand as a result of stone hands by his receivers? Manning is going to bounce back and play effectively he is to good and like it or not he is probably one of the most cerebral QBs out there. It doesn't help that he has to deal with a revamped offensive line to boot. This one is on the GM, Coughlin and Gilbride. The GM this year did a terrible job. Coughlin should have asked Plaxico to come to the Giants instead he steered him away from them. As for Steve Smith I don't think he would have helped much this year anyways. The loss of Boss is another factor. Smith and Boss were his go to targets especially on third down now he has to rely on a bunch of receivers that probably don't know their routes yet.

Everything you said is correct but it still is no reason for him to compare himself to Brady. Like jrodmc said, the point was he was running his mouth. If you want people to think of you as an elite QB you gotta go out there and earn it. One superbowl where the team was known mostly for it's defense ain't gonna get you to that level. Peyton also has one superbowl but everybody and their mother thinks he is one of the best QBs ever, because of how he controls the game and imposes his will on his teammates. Eli needs to do a LOT more before he can talk the talk.

What I find funny is Eli said he was elite QB he didn't compare himself. What do you want him to say that he is middle of the pack QB. In any sports you have to have confidence in your ability and put yourself on a pedestal. I liked Eli's confidence Phil Simms wasn't better than Eli but ask him if he compares himself to Montana. He will give you same answer Eli gave and say yes he was every bit as good as Montana.

Yeah and Marbury said he was the best PG in the NBA. Words are cheap.

Anyone who compares Marbury to Manning is misinformed. He didn't compare himself to Brady. It was a loaded question. He was asked if he felt he belonged in mention with the Brady class and he said yes. People just hate on him because they find it hard to believe he actually won a championship and he's from New York.

When Eli catches fire he's as good as any QB in the game... the problem is it's jsut as possible--if not more possible--for him to play like the worst QB in the game. He can make great throws but he still is prone to throw off his back leg and jam it into double/triple coverage. Yeah, he threw for 4,000+, but I think the team is best off when it features the run and Eli is asked to make 2 or 3 big plays. I have faith in him making those. I don't have faith in him trying to be his brother in an offense that would make Mike Martz blush. I don't understand how things evolved away from focussing on time of possession and creating/minimizng turnovers

I also can't fucking stand the fact that we let our guys go to sign Canty, Boley, Rolle and whoever else that DOESN'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Give me Boss, Smith, and Coefield over that crap any day of the week and twice on Sundays

It is hard to root for this team - it doesn't have a personality at all and the individual personalities that we do have I am struggling with. At the end of the day, Eli is a little puss ass. Jacobs is the only tough mofo on our offense, and even his personality is suspect. Osi is a jerk, but may have a legitimate beef w/ Reese. Coughlin doesn't seem to inspire his troops, even when he won the superbowl. I just don't like this team and it is really hard to be a Giants fan right now. Unfortunately, we're stuck with Eli until like 2020 and we just re-upped Coughlin. I'd love to give the team an enema and a good douching and start with young, hungry talent. It's a waste to keep getting excited for these teams that just don't deliver in the crunch and can never close out a game. I could never do it, but i find myself thinking about gang green a bit more these days...at least they have some personality and charisma.

I do believe this is the first post I've ever read with those three terms used in the same thought.

Don't do it! Don't even think about leaving Blue for gangrene. The intervention required to get the green scum off you is not pretty.

Eli is Eli. The Giants are the Giants. The fact is Eli is throwing the ball to dudes who don't have picture portrait on Madden. He has to trust guys. I think that will come sooner than later. I also believe the offensive coaches are too pass happy. Jacobs should be getting more touches. 6 carries is unacceptable. No one is scared of Bradshaw because he's so small. We need Jacobs to make defenses second guess before tackling. Can't run play action without a running game.

Part of me is looking forward to drafting Andrew Luck and trading Eli to the Dolphins on draft night

brady has lost weapons too and adapt like any other qb. every qb has to go through that. however, hakeem nicks is a high ranking wideout but he hardly utilize him. manningham isnt bad either. look, i am giving eli more slack than usual because he delivered a sb but it is wearing thin.

Yankees in the WS looks more likely at this point.

Enjoy it folks! This may be the highpoint of the season! Tied for second place!
jusnice @ 9/21/2011 9:41 AM
I don't really understand the posters who are claiming that Eli has inexperienced wideouts...Nicks, Manningham and Dixon have all had at least one year in this system, most at least two. Our offense has not changed. While i recognize that everything is not Eli's fault, his faults are his lack of leadership and accountability for his stupid decisions and risky throws.

I also cannot stand our play calling. We will be running it with authority only to abandon that the next few downs or series. Then, we will be passing it well and we'll abandon that. This team needs to get back to basics - solid run, play action passes, and smash mouth defense. Unfortunately, our secondary is suspect. I'm hoping Prince can come back and make an impact, but that's alot to expect from a rookie.

We are obviously looking forward to the draft. At least someone tell me it wasn't the same ACL. Can't be, right?
