yeah, the playcalling was on point today... that little dump off to Boss for the big gain & the other quick flat screen to Ward that resulted in a huge play read the Skins' blitz packages perfectly

It'll be interesting to see what happens with Plax. I think the Giants will wait till this issue is somewhat settled, but they will do what they can to get money back from his extension. Not sure what kind of clauses he has in his contract, but they may try to use this to void his bonus.

He could very well be released- though I doubt it would happen this year.
VDesai @ 11/30/2008 8:06 PM
So- don't know if his other teammates did anything to cover anything up or did anything else that might get them in trouble, but in addition to Pierce, Bradshaw was there. Bradshaw already spent some time in jail this offseason, has had is issues and is on probation- so hopefully nothing happened there. Again, doubtful there are any issues, but that's definitely not the guy you want to be around trouble.
VDesai @ 11/30/2008 8:08 PM
And according to Tiki via PFT- Steve Smith was robbed outside his home last week, so that might've motivated Plax to be packing heat:

Actually now I'm reading in the Daily News that Pierce may have tried to hide the gun. That could be bad.

u'd figure with all the money he's making he'd hire a personal bodyguard instead of carrying around an unlicensed firearm... what the hell is wrong w/these athletes i tell ya.
VDesai @ 12/1/2008 4:21 PM
Pierce might've been hiding the gun, that could be a big issue.

Apparently Plax tried to go to the hospital and say his name was Harris Smith and he got shot at Applebees

Important notes on Burress' contract from Peter King:

I think you can make book on Plaxico Burress playing elsewhere in 2009, assuming he's not in jail. (And that may not be the best assumption right now.) In fact, I expect the Giants to either de-activate him the rest of the season or place him on the non-football injury list for the rest of the year, effectively ending his career with the New York Giants. Amazing, amazing story.

Giants GM Jerry Reese negotiated a great contract to lock up Burress before the season, making it about as safe a deal as he could, with miniscule guarantees. The Giants can cut or trade Burress after the season and simply eliminate $23 million of the $27-million-in-new-money deal he signed with the Giants. In effect, as I said on NBC last night, when I examine the deal, I see the contract totally on the come. And the first big test of this contract will come on Dec. 10, when Burress is due $1 million from the original and only guaranteed money in the deal, the third installment of a $4.325-million signing bonus when he signed. Let me break down all of the non-guaranteed money in the Burress deal that makes it absolutely simple for the Giants to cut the cord with him after the season:

• Non-guaranteed base salaries: $11.5 million ($1 million in 2009, $3.5 million in 2010, $3.5 million in 2011, $3.5 million in 2012).

• Non-guaranteed one-time bonus to be paid early in the '09 off-season: $2 million.

• Non-guaranteed roster bonuses: $3.5 million ($500,000 in '09, $1 million in 2010, $1 million in 2011, $1 million in 2012).

• Non-guaranteed escalators, payable only on high performance: $5 million ($1.25 million in '09, '10, '11, '12.) He has not reached his escalators yet that would kick in for 2009.

• Non-guaranteed workout bonuses: $1.3 million ($325,000 in '09, '10, '11, '12).

Burress also has a clause in his contract that could come into play and cost him $400,000 this year. For every game he's ineligible to play in because of non-injury reasons, he doesn't earn a $100,000 per game roster bonus.

Awfully sad. "Trouble just follows him,'' said Bucs cornerback Ronde Barber. No one over the weekend was arguing.
TMS @ 12/1/2008 6:13 PM
definitely a sad ending to a pretty good Giants career if that's the case... for all his troubles & issues, i liked the guy & never thought he had bad intentions... he played injured & gave his all whenever he played for the most part... he made some huge plays for us & snagged some throws from Eli that no other WR we had could have... i hope he gets his life together after all this & stops making stupid choices... he's definitely no Pacman Jones or anything close to that, this was just an unfortunate incident... certainly no Giants fan worth anything can expect all our players to be saints when we all idolized & worshipped guys like LT.

I don't even know what to type here. Honestly.

All I know is that Plaxico is, was, and always will be dumb as nails and it's pretty pathetic he squandered all his athleticism and god-given ability over packing heat going to a club. If you need to pack heat going to a club then it's a good sign you shouldn't be there. No sympathy at all for this idiot.

You don't just need heat to go to a club. You need a gun because it is necessary. It is the same reason why NYC seems fit to arm their officers with handguns whether they are patrol or not. As I said in another thread, NYC is a reactionary city. I was once told by two police officers that I should get my hands on a gun if I decide on staying in NYC. If you don't like guns then that is your opinion but the 2nd Amendment states the right to bear arms. It doesn't state you only have that right outside of NYC. The problem is that the NYC gun control laws have not been challenge properly. I guess it would have been a more proper story if the ending was like Sean Taylor's or even a stabbing like Pierce. Athletes are targets whether they go clubbing or not. I find it ironic that the Giants had to announce over the weekend that Steve Smith was robbed at gun point last week right outside his home.

I got no problem with people who have been trained on how to PROPERLY use a gun to bear them. My father owns a few, he knows how to use them. Plaxico Burress clearly does NOT know how to use a gun, I'm sorry.

i grew up my entire life in NYC & never felt the necessity to own a firearm... i got no problems w/people's rights to own one but definitely not an unlicensed one & definitely should not be any guns allowed in a nightclub where people regularly get into drunken fights for ridiculous reasons.

My understanding is that he got his gun in Florida where it is legal to purchase a handgun without a license. His mistake was not obtaining a handgun license in NYC although the idiotic laws in NYC prevent you from carrying a conceal handgun. I am just wondering why Plax is facing felony charges when normally first time offenders get probation (I know this for a fact since two associates of mine have gotten them). Go down to the Diamond District and ask how many jewelers are carrying unlicense firearms. Barry Switzer walked through a checkpoint at the airport with two firearms and only got a misdemeanor charges on him. The asexual Mayor Bloomberg could go suck it as from as I am concern. I wish he pursue his friends at AIG and down on Wall Street for their wrongdoings as much as he wants to pursue Plax and these hospital staff. BTW, what Pierce did is more criminal from my understanding. He orchestrated the cover up of a "felony" crime, how in the world is he not going to face charges? Something is not quite right about this story.

i agree, something is very fishy about this... i thought he'd get probation too but sounds to me like the Mayor's pushing for a mandatory 3.5 year sentence if he's found guilty... i think they may have changed the penalty after what happened w/the P Diddy case when he got acquitted on gun possession charges, & i think the fact that the gun actually went off inside a public establishment is also a factor to be considered here... plus i think Bloomberg is using this case to grandstand just a little bit as well... & i don't get how Pierce didn't get charged w/obstruction of justice charges either but Plax is being made an example here.

regardless of all that tho, Plax is in the wrong here for bringing an unlicensed gun into a nightclub... there's just no excusing that.

Plax suspended 4 games & he's been placed on non injury reserved list... pretty much ends his Giants career.

i feel kinda bad for the guy... he's an idiot but i don't think he has bad intentions... i felt angry at Shockey when he acted like a baby & demanded a trade cuz it showed me he didn't care at all about winning, but Plax i have some pity for... he played injured all last year & except for being late to meetings & whatnot he gives it his all whenever he takes the field... just a really stupid choice on his part to take a loaded handgun into a club but LT was guilty of doing some really stupid things in his time too & i'm pretty sure all of us gave him a pass for his transgressions.

Plax played hard on the field which does mean something. I think all the extra-curricular crap that he pulled started to wear on the team though. Just the fact that Plax felt he could do all that stuff shows me he didn't really care about his teammates all that much and that he was more concerned with doing what he wanted to do.

the worst part of this whole thing is that he may have unintentionally dragged a teammate into this mess, a very key teammate at that... i hope nothing happens w/Pierce.
