i think Kiwi needs to stay at DE, he's not a LBer & i've been saying that all along... he does his best work off the LOS.

we need to target an OLB & a MLB for next season because Pierce has lost a step & our OLB's suck.

The team needs a threat at WR and essentially a whole new LB corps. Kiwi really did show promise at LB, so I can't say don't do that but I too would prefer to keep him at DE. Where he goes I think depends upon the type of ends that are available in the draft. If a guy like Kiwi falls tot he end of the draft or a guy like Tuck falls to third round because of injuries, Kiwi should play LB... but that's easier said that done and I imagine it will be easier to find legitimate LBs than DE where the Giants draft.

Agent: Plaxico Burress in 'very difficult situation' with Giants

Plaxico Burress Smith for News

Plaxico Burress is in a "very difficult situation" with the Giants, according to Drew Rosenhaus, although the agent would not say whether the troubled receiver is seeking a trade.

Rosenhaus, who sent an e-mail to NFL teams earlier this week informing them that Burress was available via trade, dodged the question of whether the wideout wanted out of New York. But he did say Burress' problems with the Giants ran "far deeper" than any friction that e-mail caused.

"His situation right now is very convoluted," Rosenhaus said during his weekly appearance on WQAM in Miami. "We have a legal process that has to take care of itself. He has been suspended by the Giants. The Giants have made an effort to recoup money from his contract. He's filed a counter grievance against the team alleging that all those things were not done fairly.

"So it's a very difficult situation with the team right now."

The Giants declined comment.

The situation has been difficult since Burress accidentally shot himself in the thigh in late November. It will likely get uglier when the two sides square off in front of an arbitrator who will hear arguments on two grievances the NFL Players Association filed against the Giants on the receiver's behalf. They are attempting to help Burress recoup more than $2 million in lost wages, fines and withheld bonus money as a result of his season-ending, four-week suspension.

Rosenhaus said the arbitration hearing on those grievances is tentatively scheduled for early March.

The tensions began rising early, thanks to the Rosenhaus e-mail, which was followed by a Giants e-mail to other teams insisting the agent was acting on his own.

Rosenhaus said his message was nothing unusual - it's something he does "probably three or four times a week, year-round" - and not a violation of any NFL rules.

"As an agent I can do whatever I want," he said. "Let me clarify the rules. Teams cannot talk to an agent about a player who is under contract, but there's no limits on what an agent can try and do to help his client. The bottom line is that I get paid by my clients to advance their agenda, not the teams' agendas. I'm going to do my job."

Rosenhaus doubted the e-mail would have any impact on the Giants' feelings toward his client.

"There's a lot of work that has to be done between Plax and the Giants that has nothing to do with me," he said. "So, at the end of the day, whatever I do, I can't imagine whether I am sending e-mails or not has any impact on the situation. It's far deeper than that."

is this guy kidding me? his CLIENT is in a difficult situation? what about the team that his client completely nuked w/his idiotic shooting of himself in a nightclub to end last year's Super Bowl hopes? looking out for your client is all well & good but the Giants have been more than patient & supportive of Plax & his situation ever since he got here... i can't believe his agent would have the nerve to pull something like this... i really like Plax as a player & i hope he can stay on this team somehow, but if his agent is acting on his behalf & those actions reflect his general attitude towards the NY Giants, then i say it's time to part ways & go w/new blood... i'm sick & tired of dealing w/the constant conflicts & controversy.

RIP great Giants LB Brad Van Pelt
TMS @ 2/25/2009 7:58 PM
i'm glad to hear that the G-men decided to keep Kiwanuka at DE for next season.

latest article i read says TJ Housh is #1 on the Giant's radar for free agency... thoughts? personally i don't see him as a #1 option type receiver & we can't factor Plex into the plans at all until we find out how his legal case ends up... TJ would be a good replacement for Toomer as the #2 guy but i still say we need to draft a big WR target for Eli to throw to whether we get TJ or not... my guess is Anquan Boldin's gonna probably cost too much for us to sign.

if it were up to me i'd rather sign a playmaking OLBer w/our free agent money... any good ones available in free agency? Bart Scott?
SupremeCommander @ 2/26/2009 11:38 AM
Yeah, I don't see Hoosh as a number one either. I'd go after Marvin Harrison until WR can be addressed in the draft. Get him and over the course of the next two drafts get a guy who can be number one and groom him to be number one.

I really wish the Giants would have signed Gibril Wilson. I mean, they could run a three saftey blitz package... wish the man well in Miami.

Good. We locked up Jacobs. That was our first priority. Anybody have an idea where Ward might end up?

I don't know at all... haven't heard anything... but I'd bet on Arizona if Warner resigns. I think Ward would look great there

Ward's been linked w/the Browns in recent articles & has said he'd like to play there... we'll see what happens.

We could be signing Michael Boley, LB from the Falcons. He's a little small, but very quick and athletic and only 26. He's a guy that can cover and create turnovers.
VDesai @ 2/27/2009 9:51 AM
TJ Housh is interested in the Giants, but it may not be reciprocal
TMS @ 2/27/2009 2:09 PM
not familiar w/Boley from ATL, but quick & athletic sounds good to me... we need someone who can cover guys coming out of the backfield cuz Pierce is too slow.

I think he got knocked out as a starter last season because of domestic abuse issues... but he's a Pro Bowl talent

looks like Gang green just signed up Bart Scott, so scratch him from the list of available LBers.

btw, OT but the Skins just signed up Albert Haynesworth to a 7 year $100 mil deal... that's a whole lotta chedda to put into 1 guy.

We ended up signing Boley, 5 yrs/25 mil with about 10 guaranteed. 2 yrs ago he had a pretty big season. Last year he slipped a little b/c of the new regime. Its interesting that he was our first target and we didn't take much time at all to lock him up. We needed some fresh blood and speed in our LB corps and this works.
VDesai @ 2/27/2009 8:35 PM
Our next signing will be a DT/DE- someone from the group of Chris Canty, Rocky Bernard, and Antonio Smith. Canty has the most upside and would steal from the Cowboys. Smith has some upside as a passrusher and Bernard is a veteran who has been productive in his career. These guys would all be auditioning for the role of run stuffing end/guy who could move inside and rush the passer. A very important role on the Giants D-line. Canty is from the Bronx and is one of the most coveted FA's this year.
TMS @ 2/27/2009 10:33 PM
aren't we pretty much set at DT w/Robbins, Alford & Cofield?

No- Canty would be a definite upgrade on Cofield and the Giants need DL depth. And he could swing over to DE. His signing would be huge. I think we have a very good chance of getting him.

And I think we may still be able to trade for Braylon Edwards.
VDesai @ 2/28/2009 8:08 PM
Giants have signed Rocky Bernard, who is a good passrushing DT/DE, but sort of an older version of Jay Alford. And they still have Chris Canty in town. So they are potentially making some big moves on the D-line.

BTW Robbins and Cofield both had arthroscopic knee surgery this offseason.
