Now that things are back on track -- Plaxico's right ankle is acting up. They sent him in to see a specialist today. I hope it doesn't effect him too much.

LET'S GO GIANTS!!!

His ankle has been bothering since the beginning of camp and he has 5 touchdown catches...it might be a nagging thing, but it hasn't effected performance so far.

if plax is out, that is a huge blow for us. he always did well against the philly secondary because of his height. that would mean mix or moss would take his place which is not good because though they are speedy, they are smaller targets.

Mix is a big dude. He's almost TE size. And he's not very speedy. I agree though. Losing plax would be tough.

If Plax is out, we'll probably see a heavy dose of 2 TE sets. Against a blitzing LB corps, it would make sense to see what the combination of Shockey and Boss can do. I really think Boss has a tremendous upside potential here.

Plax needs to be on the field, if only as a decoy for the other team's best cover corner... i can see Amani & Shockey being used a lot more, & we hopefully will see some things from our new rook, Steve Smith, & from Sinorice, who up til now has been a huge bust.

Statement from Giants Vice President of Medical Services, updating Plaxico Burress ankle injury:

“Plaxico and I visited with Dr. Robert Anderson in Charlotte yesterday. Dr. Anderson reviewed Plaxico’s MRI results and administered his own physical exam of Plaxico.

“Dr. Anderson confirmed our findings, which is that Plaxico has a serious sprain to his right ankle.

“Following the exam, Dr. Anderson conferred with Dr. Warren and it was determined that at this point, we will continue the course of treatment and therapy that we have used since Plaxico reinjured the right ankle when he was stepped on during the Green Bay game. Plaxcio will continue his modality therapy, and we will explore all options regarding the most appropriate shoes, orthotics and braces.

“The best prescription for this injury is rest, and as a result, Plaxico’s practice time for the immediate future will be limited.

“For the time being, we will continue to evaluate Plaxico’s injury on a day-to-day, week-to-week basis

Steve Smith is out for 4-6 weeks with a shoulder injury.

i am bracing for one of the worst sports weekend ever. if the giants lose against the eagles and if we lose the division to philadelphia that is my worst case scenerio EVER. ON THE SAME WEEKEND.i hope one or both teams step up because i HATE philly teams with a passion, more than any other city or teams. then on top of that i live in the philly area and everyone knows i am a ny fan so i will definately hear it for a year.
VDesai @ 9/28/2007 10:34 AM
Brandon Jacobs practiced...he thinks he can play Sunday.
TMS @ 9/28/2007 12:01 PM
Derek Ward has been awesome as a backup this season... he & Juggernaut will make a nice running tandem this year... they need to use Droughns more on short pass routes too... he can catch the ball.
Vmart @ 9/29/2007 8:18 PM
Lets hope that Giants reviewed the tapes from the Green Bay game because that is the same game plan that Eagles will use. Short passes which will eventually strech the defense.

They are looking good so far. Hope this continues in the 3rd and 4th.
BigC @ 9/30/2007 9:32 PM
If Ward keeps on playing like this then he will remain a starter.

Tiki had him locked up in a cage. He finally got released when Tiki retired.

Is our defense turning things around or does the Eagles offensive line suck?

PresIke @ 9/30/2007 11:27 PM
Wonder if the team has been righted? I'm surprised after the way we started the season to see us play well like this, especially on defense? Umenyiora returning to his '05 form getting as many sacks as he had all last season! I still dislike Coughlin, but I'll take the win.
SupremeCommander @ 10/1/2007 12:38 AM
The Giants make no sense to me. Every season I write them completely off, they get their shit together and look lie a legitimate team. I need to start each season expecting them to suck and maybe then they'll turn into a dynasty.
VDesai @ 10/1/2007 8:41 AM
That was incredible. 12 sacks??? I thought things would get markedly better, but 80 pts in the first 2 games to 12 sacks by game 4? WOW! Great job by Spags getting things together. Look how much better Kiwanuka looks now. Also some props to Aaron Ross- he's had a big time improvement from preseason to now and he's been a huge boost to the team since he's been getting most of the snaps at CB (and now as the starter). And Madison too.

Offense was a little shaky last night. I know everyone's praising Ward, but he could've had some bigger gains on a bunch of his runs. Once he gets into space he doesn't do a great job of making people miss and runs into tacklers at times. I'm spoiled b/c of Tiki, but while Ward is an excellent backup and has done a great job as a spot starter, I don't think he's a real threat to Jacobs right now. That said he should get a few touches and some receptions once Jake is back.

He was hurt all last year, but he was a big contributor in 2005 on kick returns and also as Tiki's primary backup (non-short yardage).
