Giants linebacker Michael Boley will miss the next month of the season after undergoing surgery Tuesday morning to repair a partially torn meniscus in his right knee.
Boley, who was coming off his finest game in his extremely short career with the Giants, seemed to be fine after the Giants' 27-16 win in Kansas City on Sunday. But his right knee apparently stiffened up on the plane ride home after the game.
The next day, he was spotted at the Giants' practice facility on crutches and Tom Coughlin said he was being sent for tests. Those tests showed the partially torn meniscus, and he underwent arthroscopic surgery this morning at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.
This is a huge blow to the Giants' depleted defense, which has already lost safety Kenny Phillips (knee) for the season and has been playing without defensive tackle Chris Canty (calf) and cornerback Aaron Ross (hamstring). But it's also a huge blow to Boley, the 27-year-old weak side linebacker who signed a five-year, $25 million contract with the Giants back in the offseason. It's actually his second surgery in the last four months. He tore his hip labrum in June and needed to have that repaired, and his recovery from that surgery kept him out for most of training camp.
Boley was a pass-rushing force against the Chiefs on Sunday. He had a sack, four tackles for losses, one pass batted at the line of scrimmage and another pass defensed in the end zone when it bounced off the back of his helmet.
If the "four-week" timetable the Giants gave for his recovery is correct, Boley could return for the Giants' home game against the San Diego Chargers on Nov. 8. However, with the bye looming the following week, it's more likely he'd return on Nov. 22 when the Giants play host to the Atlanta Falcons.

Damn, we are cursed this year. This year is just not our year.
What is wrong with Jacobs this year?

What is wrong with Jacobs this year?
He didn't play too good the first too games, but he was OK against Tampa Bay, and I thought he played well against the Chiefs.
One reason for Jacobs' relatively slow start is the overall poor play from Fullback Madison Hedgecock. He hasn't been blowing up blockers and very rarely has opened up holes.
going to the game this weekend...concerned about a let down, but how can we possibly lose to Oakland...is it possible?
The Lions beat an NFL team this season. Anything is possible.
true, but the Raiders may be even worse right now. If Eli doesn't play, I wonder if we run the ball 65 times.
Well I heard somewhere that he's feeling better and better, but I don't know if that's true or not. Plantar Fascitis is no joke, in any sport. Jusnice, if you're a Knicks fan, do you remember when Glen Rice and Patrick Ewing had that condition? It seemed like they could never get rid of it.
yeah, i remember. I don't have good memories of glenn rice. never liked him, but you're right about the plantar situation. However, basketball players jump up and down and land on their heels a lot more than an NFL QB, especially one as mobile as Eli.
Jamarcus Russell sucks donkey dong and their running game is as unproductive as it gets. The only way the Raiders win is if the Giants turn the ball over. Personally, I hope they're smart and rest Eli regardlessof whether he thinks he can go or not and they run the ball 40-50 times.
Boss' ankle is bothering him so he probably wont play on Sunday. Damn injuries are eating us alive.
i wanna see what Travis Beckum can do, but losing Boss will probably hurt our running game.
Let's get this win & get to 5-0! GO G-MEN!
looks like he's starting today... i think they'll probably run the ball alot today & then get Carr in as soon as they build up a sizable enough lead... hopefully it works out that way
Ahmad Bradshaw is simply a better RB than Brandon Jacobs right now, it's clear as day... the guy hits holes like he's shot out of a cannon & he has that instant cutback ability & explosive speed to make big plays... Brandon Jacobs is running like he's afraid of contact this season, i'm sorry... stutter steps at the LOS, doesn't hit the hole w/conviction like he did last year... unless there's a huge hole open for him he doesn't make big gains anymore... he got the ball handed to him 2 straight times at the goalline & he couldn't punch it in... Bradshaw got the ball on the next play & it's a TD for the Giants... Jacobs is hesitating on just about every run i've watched from him this season... he better start looking at some tape of how his teammate's been running the ball so far this year to see the type of intensity u need to play with to be successful in this game... & i know he's not the same type of runner as Bradshaw, i'm not even talking about that.
on another note, nice start for Eli & the offense... the foot doesn't seem to be causing him any problems, he's making crisp throws & that long pass to Steve Smith was on the money... 14-0 already in the 1st quarter... this is gonna be ugly for Raider Nation.

btw, the best way to tackle Sinorice Moss is to breath in his direction.
Ahmad Bradshaw is ballin!
Eli's playing like an MVP this year... & it's not just this game vs. a crappy Raiders team... he's making throws like his brother Payton & leading this offense like him too... it's great to see
