I like this guy. I like what he said about trying to keep a-rod in NY. It shows a little integrity. So what we might get here is a guy who loves the Yankees as much as his father did, will do what it takes to put them back on the map, but most important, doesn't seem to want to mess with people who are working for him to accomplish this goal. Can we get the best of both worlds here? So far so good. As for a-rod, he doesn't deserve capital letters anymore.

i like him also... a chip off the old man's block... i don't want no pu$$y owner who's going to let players dictate what the organization does in terms of contracts, etc... they have to make sound business decisions for the good of the franchise, not cave in to every big name FA's demands.

Agreed. And the only one who's going to have to cave in is a-rod and his agent. If they came crawling back, I'd skim off 5 mil off the original deal and offer a three year. I can't see anyone else (maybe the Mets) breaking the bank to give him more than we offered.
ARod has already burned his bridge w/this grandstanding act... there's no way the Yankees will entertain bringing him back now... he made it clear that being a Yankee isn't his top priority like he always said it was... even if they were willing to shave off the $30 mil that TEX would have owed in the deal after getting their top offer from another team, i think the Yankees are done w/the ARod circus.
In this article, this is exactly what I was talking about. Hank is on the ball and on the right track. The last five paragraphs say it all. He's going back to basics. Just like 1996. This is the way the Yankees should have continued on, after they're last championship.

i have full confidence that the team is in the right hands... Hank's a no nonsense kinda guy & that's what this team has always had in George... Boras screwed his clients & just cost them millions of dollars by ruining his relationship w/the Yankees IMO.
