Child abuse................

would you say the same thing about the 11 year old kid who can play Mozart?
Anji @ 1/29/2008 5:14 PM
No, but him doing 200 set ups and crunches plus 150 squats is alot like little hercules..... which was ruled as child abuse.

Hopefully he loves the game and continues to work hard. It's a long road to the NBA no matter how good you are at 11.

Boy some people really don't get it.

What impresses me the most is the kid ran the mile in 4:50 sec

I have to say, that is absolutely sadistic. The kid can run a mile faster at 11 years old than probably anyone on this board. He's got all the attributes. My only question is how tall will he wind up. If he winds up anywhere close to 6 feet, I think we're looking at an NBA player. Wow. Nice find.

My son has that crazy lung ratio also which he must get from my wifes side. she has it, as does her dad. Its a very impressive trait.

For years he was a terror on ice playing Ice hockey and we never pushed him either. He gravitated toward lacrosse, music and at 16 he finally is begining to understand the importance of his grades and is pushing thru the International Baccalauriate program as a junior in high school. He is talking Med school now.

My point? At 13 my son was being looked at for his hockey but the thought of playing 5-6 days a week at a prep school sounded more like work than the joy he had experienced. Plus as you get older there are other things to do.

I don't know what my son will but I know his sucess will be journey that should be fun to watch and will be interesting to see what he becomes. I never pushed him but I made him fulfil his commitments whey they were there. This kid is really driven which is nice but I hope he is hitting the books. We saw quite a few great little athletes over the years whose parents did not pay attention to the classroom. The kids self esteem there becomes low and thus their sports success is what carries them. Thats fine but the reality is at some point in life the body will quite and the mind will continue. For a pro athlete who can attain the financial resources to retire at an early age in life thats wonderful, but its rare. We all know kids growing up that were great in sports but the genetics of height or injury prevention just can fail them. I knew a kid growing up who was a super athlete but his ankles and shoulders could not handle the pounding. His genetics would not allow him to continue and he had to give up an athletic scholorship. He got depressed and flunked out of school pretty quick.

I hope this kid gets well rounded. Maybe he is the next Iverson, but maybe his arms won't be long enough to overcome being an avg height. Hoops can carry a kid to nice avenues and a nice education but we all know there are so many flame out stories.

The point about this thread is not about him failing ,but celebrating his accomplishments at such a young age.

The funny thing is , if this was anyone of our kids with the gift this kid has, we would never bring up how he could fall off the mark or how he won't hit the books when he gets older.

We would be celebrating what he has accomplished up to this point.
