Many are arguing if the Video is real/fake I feel it's real and the soldiers didn't look stressed out or anything. They looked like typical Americans doing inexplicable recreational cruelty acts. They laughed off what they did.

I watched it after this post. That was utterly sadistic. If it's real, I hope the soldier that threw the puppy goes to jail for a considerable amount of time.

They are suppressing all their trauma IMO. I have seen this happen. Depression is next. PTSD.
Yeah disgraceful and it made me sick to watch it but you have to understand who these people are and what they have been doing over the past year or more to cause them to do such a thing. It's not excusable but these also aren't two ordinary people off the street suddenly deciding to do such a thing.

MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII, Hawaii -- The Marines on Monday responded to a video clip on YouTube.com showing what appears to be a Kaneohe-based Marine throwing a puppy while in Iraq.
The video shows two Marines talking as one holds a puppy by the back of the neck before throwing the dog over what appears to be a cliff. There is the sound of a dog yelping as the puppy is seen flying in the air.
The clip has been viewed by thousands of people on the Internet, with several e-mailing Honolulu TV news media.
The leadership at Marine Corps Base Hawaii at Kaneohe said they are investigating the case and that they do not tolerate such behavior.
"This is a shocking and deplorable video that contrary to the high standards we set for every Marine. We will investigate this and take appropriate action," Maj. Christopher Perrine said.
Officials said they believe the Marine in the video is a lance corporal who returned to Hawaii in October from Iraq.
Thousands of people viewed the clip that lasted about 17 seconds. Many left messages on YouTube.com saying they were outraged by what they saw.
"The act itself is atrocious and just to see the disregard for life is just troubling," Hawaii Humane Society spokeswoman Kawehi Yim said.
Others said they believed the clip was staged and not real.
The Marines said while they will look into what happened. They want to determine whether the video clip is authentic.
"We need to find out who is this person, is this a legitimate video? Was it edited?" Perrine said.
YouTube.com pulled the clips uploaded onto its site involving the Marine and the puppy by the late afternoon.
Officials at the Hawaii Humane Society said they were horrified by what was on the video.
"People have been e-mailing and calling outraged that one, that the act occurred and secondly that there appears to be little remorse," Yim said.
If the video is authentic, the Marines involved could face judicial charges, a reduction in rank and pay and a court-martial. They could also be discharged.
Terrible thing, but you can't say stuff like this is surprising. Some of these guys are probably out of their minds by now.
I refuse to watch this.
But if it were Isiah Thomas being thrown off, I'd watch it with a smile.

They appeared very normal. The video showed no sense of stress. The puppy looked like he had his feet tied and why would a puppy such as that one be out in the dessert anyway? The guy just launched the pup and casually laughed it off and walked away.

Bip do you want me to start posting articles of animal cruelty here in the States. This is a tad bit more over the Top but fits in the category of Animal cruelty, which is prevalant here in the states. I mean we have T.V. programs dedicated to them.

That's a scary way of thinking. Typical American, typical Black, typical Jew, Typical Muslim, typical Asian. A racist or an anti-anyone can look at the news and see the typical "anyone" committing any crime and can lump them into that category.
You can think the way you want. I just choose not to lump any group in a category(minority or majority) based on anecdotal evidence.

I think TYPICAL any person is this... They just don't care what goes on, unless it pertains to their own life or something that interests them. Hence, most people probably could care less about this.
I personally think the people who did that to the dog are putrid, but that's b/c I'm anti any kind of animal cruelty.
Disgusting video. Everyone who participated in this needs to be thrown off that cliff by a pack of dogs and then pissed on.

The "typical american" whines and moans about their dog but walks him/her at 3 in the morning in the cold, rain and snow. The "typical american" requires at least 5 surgeries on shoulders that were thrown out of joint while playing fetch in the park. The "typical american" cleans puke off the cat at 2 in the morning even though he hates the damn thing. They may not give money to animal causes or protest in the streets over events like this. But by treating them like gold they set an example to the young as to how animals are to be treated. Isn't that a pretty powerful way to act that we seem to overlook?
I don't travel as much as many here. But I travel enough to know that the "typical american" probably treats their animals better than the majority of the world.

It irks me that you describe a typical American as someone who commits acts of cruelty for recreation. As if your average person comes home from work and decides to boil kittens, or microwave small children. Do you have "recreational cruelty acts" that you do in your offtime? Are you not the typical American? If you actually thought to think about what you were saying, you might say something more like. "Americans are some of the most benevolent people in the world", "Americans take both the rights of people and the rights of animals more seriously than any other nation", or something to that effect.
As for the marines in the video, I think theyre a couple of doushebags. But they're in a warzone, and I think that that needs to be taken into account. When Al Qaeda kidnaps Americans and mutilates their bodies, beheades them, and tortures them where is the outrage? Why is the same type of person who would say "typical Americans doing inexplicable recreational cruelty acts" be so quick to hold our troops and our country to a higher standard?
The typical American to me is hardworking, patriotic, educated, religious, and kind. I dont know what America others live in, but if America and Americans are so bad, then leave.
