If I may interupt the Knicks boards (and since the Knicks are so boring now) here's the at bat Billy Crystal got, pitch for pitch. He actually has a pretty good swing for a 60 year old and had some nice strokes in batting practice.

I would say that is damn good for a 60 year old... not many half his age would get swings as good as that vs pro level pitching.....

The privledged getting more privlages. Nothing worse than this BS showing. There is no place for this in professionalism.

it was only an atbat to fulfill a lifelong dream for a lifelong fan who's been very close to hearts of Yankee fans & the organization... it's a Spring training game, who cares? it's not like some kid got sent down to the minors to make room for the guy on the major league roster... Billy Crystal has been great for the game of baseball & IMO i don't see anything wrong w/adding a little fun to an otherwise meaningless exhibition game.
was it unprofessional for Ken Griffey Jr. to don his cap backwards during a home run hitting contest, or for Derek Jeter to imitate Nomar's pre-atbat ritual at the plate during the Allstar game? these types of moments are for the fans, nothing more.

Its just in fun for a NYer who has done some nice baseball related documentaries and I think produced the HBO movie about Maris.
Garth Brooks has 45 At bats, he actually got two hits!
Its no big deal and its all just in fun! The fans had a good time, and thats what its all about, have a good time at the park!

That's why he got 45 at bats. Billy got one at bat and maintained that he didn't want to get in the way of these guys spring training. I thought it was fair. You also have to remember guys, Selig approved of this.
