ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that Brett Favre has asked for his release. The logical next step after Packers brass made it clear that they hope Favre stays retired. The letter was reportedly delivered Friday morning, and the Packers must now decide whether to take Favre back, let him go, or try to negotiate a trade. Favre is using what leverage he has to publicly pressure GM Ted Thompson. We still have our doubts that the Packers will let him go.
Cant wait to see how the Farve groupies, oops... I mean the sports media, spin this.
"wow, what a man. he's doing it for the love of the game."
The orgasam that Madden is going to have tonight is going to hit the Richter scale
There is an "I" in "Just Retire Already."
Vinnie was what, 44 when he was still playing?
If he misses the game, he should stay around - I just don't think he should expect to be an automatic to be the starting QB on any team.
Though I would take him over Chad in a heart beat!
I'm sure he's still good for something. Cant wait until he throws six interceptions in one game again, and all the commentators will say is: "boy, look at Farve! He's just having some fun out there!
I'm sick of this man and I'm sick of the sports writers acting like girls in the front row of a Beetles concert, circa the 1960s, every time this fool takes a breath. The double standards and special treatment is just nauseating.
Enough is enough now, I was thinking how refreshing it was going to be to have a Farve-free NFL year. Now they're going to turn his lie into a symbol of triumph and determination. Dammit.

this guy needs to stay retired or just stop w/the constant attention grabbing "I'm retiring" nonsense every freakin' season & play.
COME TO THE JETS BABY! COME TO THE JETS!
LETS GO GIANTS!!!!! ELIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!
There should be a rulee that if you cry at your retirement speech then you cannot come back.
This all window dressing. If the Packers accept him back -adds 10 mill or so to cap. If he's comes back he gets in sgape they will have to cut him so thst they can move forward. The end result is that Farve is not going to be with the Packers-all they can do is reach agreement that Brett will not sign with teams A B or C and then terminate the contract.
