If it really mattered to me, I say no more! The Yankees brass should be developing it's own. It's a lot less expensive and it's always fun to find a few diamonds in the rough. That would restore some of our old pride.

I don't think anyone wants them to stop doing that.

Stop what? Develop the farm or pay huge amounts of money to useless players?

No one wants them to stop developing the farm. I thought that's what you were referring to. I've never heard someone call Barry Bonds a useless player before.

that's the first time i've ever heard someone refer to 2 future 1st ballot HOFers that are still 2 of the top hitters in the game referred to as "useless", but to each his own.

for the record i don't think we're getting either one of them, just wanted to gauge the popular opinion about bringing in either of these guys... obviously there's no way BOS would trade Manny to us this season, & if they pass up his option then it would take a monstrous 4 year $100 mil contract to bring him to NY, & i don't think the Yankees would be willing to pay that huge of a fare for a 36 yo player.

his best bet to play elsewhere is if he gets traded this season to a team like the Mets or Dodgers where Manny is likely to accept a deal & that has the money to pick up his $20 mil option for next season, but my guess is he won't waive his NTC unless the new team guarantees him a contract extension at the money he's looking for... BOS is not in a position of strength here cuz they need his bat so badly & they know Manny is still 1 of the top righty hitters in the game, so Manny has them right where he wants them.

Just wondering: What would you think of Bonds if he offered to play here for the league minimum and to donate 100% of his salary to charity?
