I've been living with embilicle hernia for a several months now and its finally turned to the point where its bothering me. I'm gonna need surgery soon......
Any body ever get a hernia? Or know anyone that had one? How long you were out from work and te rehab process? Personal accounts are better than simple google info.

I had it done when I was like 13 or 14 in NY. I barely remember it. It wasn't that bad but I did have to take it easy for a while. Last year, I had a testicular torsion, which really sucked. I was in a lot of discomfort but I had surgery and everything was back to normal after that. It took about 10 days to fully recover and be able to play sports again.

Eny - I am not that familiar with hernia's but last year in business school we read a case on a place that has revolutionized hernia operations and recovery time. I am not sure if they operate on the type you have but it is worth looking into:

eny - i had a hernia operation in 2003. No big deal, just uncomfortable for a few days. The procedure was only an hour or so and i was able to leave the hospital a few hours after it was over. Then, a few more days recovery. So, within a week to 10 days, youre back to new.

You might want to take care of the herniation quickly. There are cases where Circualtion to the herniated intestine is cut off due to constriction of the muscle around the intestine resulting in infection. That is usully due to negligence of people. I have seen many cases of herniation abdominal and scrotal. If it is severe herniation best to get it checked out ASAP even if it isn't just get it checked out.
