Noticed the ad above and thought I'd comment on it. Do the Yankees get accused of buying the world series? It's a tricky question.
It could be perceive'd that way, sure' but it also could be that it was necessary to do so, to have a chance of changing that system and making it fairer for two candidates of having a fair chance of being heard. Maybe even being constitutionalized, if there could be such a thing. But you also have to consider 'this is the guy the majority of people wanted'.
Yanks bring in the revenue. Obama bought in revenue from those that supported him.
If he bought the election, it because his supporters gave it to him.
He won the election, now comes the hard part!
How can you buy the election? Just because you put out more ads? People still have to make their own independent decision. McCain lost not because Obama had more ads but because (a) people did not buy into the "fear Obama" strategy; and (b) Palin. It had little to do with Obama's ads other than the fact that those ads helped him combat the McCain smear campaign.
One of the things McCain was banking on was he was trying to show that Obama was outspending him by who knows how much, to make a point that Obama going against the idea of having limited spending for the campaign. It was hard to believe that, when you heard how Obama spoke. The concept of over spending didn't match the guy speaking.
