My PS3 keeps paying for itself. It plays all my current DVD in 1080p. I am trying to build a blu ray collection now. Blu Ray is so damn expensive though.

I have PS3 and started buying blu ray disc but it's much too expensive I think...I currently get pay per view movies in high-def from Directv pay per view which releases a few weeks after the disc are available for sale...But Directv is now charging you full price($4.99) on the second viewing of a movie outside of the 24 hour period your first purchase(saved on your receiver)... $30 for new blu-ray releases are just over the top...I'm thinking of buying a laptop with a blu ray burner so I can burn HD movies when available off Directv...

PS3 is a great value overall..Now they offer movies but too expensive as well for a download...But next move for admin(Martin and Andrew) is to start UltimateKnicks community in Playstation Home...Get to it boys..

I'm on it!

Cool.. let us know when it's all set up in a new thread...tks Bip...

yeah that's exactly how it is in the movie '300' too... but i know that the film was shot that way to appear grainy cuz it's the same way in the DVD version... i have a feeling Kung Fu Panda's gonna look incredible on bluray... most Computer animated titles look awesome on HD.

in general i've noticed that sometimes the graphics are a bit different in the PS3 games than the XBox 360 versions too... u will notice a lot sharper hard edges in the PS3 games as compared to the 360 titles at times, which appear more smoothed out overall... this is especially noticeable in Madden & Streetfighter HD remix.

& word, the sound is awesome on bluray! definitely pays to have a good surround sound system when u invest in this stuff... it makes the viewing experience so much more enjoyable.

like i said before, tms, you were right about getting the ps3. i did finally start the ratchet and clank game for my son ( it took awhile since i had to download a demo and delete for the required space. go figure) and it looks incredible. probably one of the most gorgeous games i have ever seen.

Ratchet and Clank is a great game! Did you buy the disc version or the downloadable game for $14.99? I bought and played the disc version and it was great, will download the new one later (it is the sequel). I highly recommend getting both.

So basically dropping 4 bills for a PS3 is worth it? I'm not a gaming head, but I did mess with my PS2 quite often so I am familiar with the system and more importantly the controllers. Thats one thing I hate about the X-Box.

I cant lie I'm damn near salivating at coppin' this thing and matching it with a major flat screen off of Craigslist. But the price has me nervous. When is it coming down?

I bought it about 4 months ago. Great purchase. If you can afford it I would go ahead. Even if the price goes down I think it was worth it. Blu Ray on the big screen makes me smile

Yeah, when you get the right movie its serious. Even tho I technically cant afford it, per say, being able to watch sports on a bomb ass t.v and ridiculous movies on a blu-ray is probably worth the debt. Its actually not super expensive. I blow that kind of money each month on Alcohol damn near.

IM GOING IN!

Good luck man

dude they have it on blue ray already. Back then when there was a war between HD and blue ray, blue ray won because the adult porn industry sided with blue ray. Porn is a big business

Yes its a killa4luv sighting. DOnt wanna talk about the knicks so lets talk blu-ray.

The size of your tv matters, but if you are not seeing a major difference, you probably do not have an HDMI cable connecting your BR player to your TV.
Trust me on this, the clarity of the picture on blu-ray with an HDMI cable is crazy!!!
I was selling PS3's last X-mas and I have a 46" hdtv in my living room. I checked blu0ray and thought it was cool. But when I hooked it up through an HDMI cable and watched SDpider man, the sh*t is nothing short of amazing. The games look amazing.

And don't worry about brand, I bought my cables off the internet for like 5 bucks or something. DOn't buy monster cable's they are a rip off when it comes to HDMI. Since the signal is digital you don't need fancy cables. It would be like buying fancy blank CD's thinking your sound quality is gonna be next level. It just doesn't work like that.

If you have a cable box make sure it is an HDbox. and make sure you dont hook it to your TV using the white coaxle xcable, thats the worst quality hookup.
Component (blue, red, green) cables are better, but HDMI is the cream of the crop.

you are right that in order to get the full effect of you hd, whether it is satellite or blu ray, you need an hdmi cable. soon as i got the cable, it automatically deciphers what is the best picture and sound on my receiver which was amazing. you can get them cheap at lowes or home depot so keep that in mind.
