This is possibly one of the worst attempts at a musical performance I have ever seen. Even more amazing is that Joaquin Phoenix is ready to retire from an extremely successful acting career for THIS

Looks like he's been hitting the bong a little too much.

He,he,he' ha, ha! Any of you guys remember Dee Dee King (former drummer of the Ramones)? I remember when he tried to start a rap career. Funny as hell! Take a look.

^^^^^ Damn...so that's the result of a 6 day Heroin bender? Unlistenable.

I think for the most part this kind of stuff is a product of the contempt many have for hip hop. They think its so easy and that any talentless kid can just roll out of bed and spit a few bars. So they conclude: "why not try to make a few dollars and write a few stupid rap songs"

He knows he's terrible. The beard glasses and hat are actually a disguise.

Phoenix gets stranger and stranger. But sometimes also artists go through this when looking into other characters, trying to develop great characters.

I'm not sure what you mean by hoax? I mean he was on the show doing what he was doing. We all saw it ourselves. A lot of these celebs do this publicity stunts on shows, but some use them for acting/character development purposes also. Andy Kaufman was a good example.
