and for those of you who didn't recognize him . . . . that is indeed a young rod blagojevich.

That lady is practicing the Isiah Thomas "feel good" method of child management. Kid gets to do what he wants just don't take his joy away.
One day my mom made me brush my teeth when I didn't want to. I thought she was out of the room and I turned around and stuck my tongue out. Unfortunately she was still in the room. Let's just say from that day forth I did whatever my mom said, when she said it.

That kid was abused and acting out actions that have been taken on him.

That kid would get superkicked in the face in my family.
Nalod@ 1/30/2009 3:14 PM
That women is playing it up for the camera and deserved that slap after years of stifleing that kid.
Needless to say he is also learning that behavior from someone.
I remember hearing if your yelling at your kids, your losing.
I prescribe to "WWCD", or "what would clint do!" By that, let the kid speak, clarify what he said. This gives you pause to think instead of reacting. Then VERBALLY install your authority. My kids always knew where they stood. IM the adult, and must act accordingly.
I ain't perfect, but my teenage kids mostly get it.

luck of the draw my man. luck of the draw. some kids you can reason with, others you have to basically introduce your open palm to their chubby cheek.
talk or beatings ain't guaranteed to work. but imho, neither is wrong either. old school parents beat the crap outta their kids and they turn out perfectly fine. some parents talk to them and they turn out fine also. but it also works the other way.
that's why it's the luck of the draw. kids have their own tendencies and personalities and they're very hard to control...especially in this day and age. i think parents are in basically a no-win situation these days.

I'm not a parent, but I wouldn't tolerate that. I'd drop the kid off at the pound.

Hate to tell it to you guys, but that kid sounds like an abused as hell child. Either that, or he has some major depression issues and needs therapy and medication. Probably both.
I think I stand alone here, where I say that hitting or spanking you any type of physical abuse against your kids is NO GOOD and unacceptable. However, this is one issue where I'm proud to stand alone.

I think you can blame the media and technology for this. You're fighting against that to raise your kids, and it's a really though thing to fight against.

or maybe the kid's learned that no matter what he does, it's somebody else's fault, so he can do whatever the voices in his fat-arsed brains tell him to do...
I'm an adult who's a parent who used to be a kid, and if you don't put the whup-azz on kids, then just be prepared to live with that scene for the rest of your life.
It's really much funnier as they get older, too...
