I think the Yankees were a Roid house during Torres early run 10 years ago.

Scott brocious became Babe Freaking Ruth, and Paul O'neal resurgent career as a yankee with his famous intense temper is pretty telling. Paul O'neal became Pete Rose!

Brocious Left a year on a very lucrative contract, as did McGwire for reasons one has to think was based on having to give up the juice. I wonder if Strawberry ever got on the bandwagon.

Regarding A-Roid I don't think this will hurt him other than perhaps longevity into his late 30's if he is chasing the Home Run record.

Scott Brosius was never that good, Paul O'Neill simply got more at bats and developed. It was the post O'Neill/Brosius years that were filled with roiders.

brosius had one massive spike year in 98 - it's possible he used at least 1 year. and o'neill showed all symptoms of a guy on roids.

but in all honesty, it doesn't matter to me if they did or didn't. i think almost every ballplayer has tried it once.

I don't even know where to draw the line between immoral behavior and minor violations. Is it cheating simply if the government says the product is illegal and OK if the government doesn't? Do we place that must trust in the morality of the government? Or is using PEDs morally comparable to going 56 MPH or higher on the highway (no big deal)? And if everyone cheats, isn't the playing field still level? I have no idea what the answers are to these questions but they're questions anyone casting HOF votes will have to ponder.

BTW, Pettitte belongs in the "admitted users" list. He admitted to trying PEDs.

Bonne, good heady convo stuff.

Im all over the place with it also. I mean, if it was not illegal, and no one was testing, then was it wrong?

Barry Bonds might go to jail for perjury, not steroids. Same for Cleamons.

These guys got stronger cuz it helped them recover faster, but they still had to do the work. Its wrong, its morally wrong, but nobody cared until when? When Bonds became an asshole? When owners wanted star players to recover from injury faster? When Mo Vaughn got big money and ripped the muscle off his arm working out? When Brady Anderson became Babe Ruth? When KNoblach lost his mind? When Sammy Sosa got uglier and uglier looking?

I think Roids were alive and well with the 1998 yankees.

BUt,

I don't think the list should be public as these guys submitted to testing so MLB could see what was going on and they got plenty of warning that testing would be an issue.

LIke I said, Bonds is in hot water for obstruction of justice, not steroids. Giambi was smart to admit it and be done with it. Same for Petittt.

McGwire gets into the HOF now. Sammy you too. Roger your place is waiting. Bonds can do his acceptance via prison link feed. A-Rod just ensured that all of you guys make it now. I am waiting for the day that they released Jeter's, Manny's and Big Poppie's positive results. Just looking at those guys in the 80s, 90s and early 2000 and comparing them to guys just from the 70s, you know they were on something other than Flintstones vitamins and supplements.

Here's an article were Canseco says other things that will lead to the entire truth behind this whole mess. He says this has been one big cover-up for the last 25 years now. He even names the powers behind this whole thing.

So Canseco's been telling the truth this whole time. I always believed him. This thing is worse then ever.

If these roided players didn't affect the major records books so much, then maybe it wouldn't be so bad. But EVERYTHING fell. Records that stood for decades, gone and tainted beyond repair. Not broken fair and square but rather unfairly.

If any of you remember, when the DH came out in the AL, it was highly criticized and writers, people would often say that it wasn't fair to the game. That it wasn't fair to players of the past. Well this BIG mess isn't fair to them either. It's not even fair to the guys who broke those records, because they can be compared now to wether they are indeed some of the greatest. It's a big question mark (if not an *). I mean who do you call the greatest individual player at his position in the careers of players now?

It's a no brainer. It's one thing not to care at all about what's happening, but another thing when people try to justify it. In my opinion, baseball is beyond repair. You and many others confusion on were to stand on this issue is a testament to those facts. This is my opinion.
