Hey, maybe this can be the stickified Ranger thread. They made the playoffs and will most likely win the Cup this year ( I have a gut feeling).

Huge win... I don't know why the Rangers are getting written off in this series by the media. The Caps' goalie is Jose Theodore and the Rangers' goalie is The King. Yeah, he let up three, but he was HUGE tonight... just under 92 percent SV% on 35 shots. What a beast
orangeblobman@ 4/15/2009 10:19 PM
what a game! At the end of the first period I was scared-- 14-4 shot advantage.
And after that first Washington goal, I thought it was done. But WOW what an effort!!!! I was ecstatic when they went up 3-1 only to get sad again at 3-3.
But what a freakin game, man! We needed one in Washington, but to get teh FIRST one is HUGGGGGEEEEEEEEEEEEE. I told you I had a gut feeling!!!!!
And yea, King Henrik was BIG for us-- especially in the first.

People forget that this is essentially a new team-- something even the Caps alluded to. The 4 games vs. the Caps were all before the change. So yea, I don't know why many are writing them off. Although you have to admit, Henrik has to keep coming up big, man. I tihnk he's up for it.

Huge win. My friend is a giant Rangers fan. Nothing more would make him happy than getting this upset. But the series has a long way to go. Let's go Rangers!

great showing by the rangers last night playing away from home. the 3rd period was fantastic - rangers huge goal w like 8 minutes left then nothing but nailbiting until the final buzzer sounded. now that they took home-ice away from the caps, its time to capitalize and bring this sh*t back to ny up 2-0.
one thing i will say tho is avery's a punk. a bit too much bruider stuff from him. i guess he's got a bit of napolean in him.
orangeblobman@ 4/16/2009 9:21 AM
Avery is a punk, but he never tries to physically hurt anyone. He's mostly a mental punk. It's not cool and all, but if he has to be in the league then I'm glad its on the Rangers.

agreed - id really hate him if he were doing that stuff to us playin on another team. i do understand the distaste for him though - like ramses from nacho libre - he's a real douche.

Big, big, BIG signing today
Sources: BU's Gilroy signs with Rangers By E.J. Hradek ESPN.com
Boston University free agent defenseman Matt Gilroy has signed a multiyear contract with the New York Rangers.
The contract is worth $3.5 million for two years, sources told ESPN's John Buccigross.
Gilroy's decision Friday to sign with the Rangers caps a full week for the 24-year-old native of North Bellmore, N.Y. One week ago, he was named the Hobey Baker Award winner as the best U.S. college hockey player.
One day later, he helped the Terriers to a stunning come-from-behind overtime win over Miami University in the NCAA Division I national championship game.
Gilroy assisted on the tying goal with just 17 seconds remaining in regulation to cap a furious two-goal rally in the final minute.
The BU captain isn't eligible to join the Rangers on their current playoff run. He will attend the club's late summer training camp with an eye on making their 2009-10 NHL roster.
E.J. Hradek is a senior writer for ESPN The Magazine.
Woah. Is it really huge? I missed the Frozen Four and have never seen him play. He seems like a stand-up lad.

His story is great. He couldn't get signed to any school, so he walked onto BU. Was fantastic. Last season, his coach thought he was ready for pro hockey. Gilroy disagrees. His coach pulls his scholarship for fresh blood. Gilroy stays regardless. Dominates the tournament, proves he plays for the love of the game. He's a great kid, a great prospect, a prospect I will be cheering very, very hard for.
And look at it this way: the signing is big enough where it made the frontpage of ESPN, even with the NFL draft, NFL trade rumors, NBA playoffs, the MLB start, the Yankees opening the new stadium, and NHL playoffs. It's a big signing

He's definitely hot, but he's also definitely a top-5 goalie, I think a top-3 goalie, and quite possibly the best goalie in the game...
And, because I'm pumped:
KING MOTHER FUCKIN HENRIK!!!
orangeblobman@ 4/19/2009 11:19 AM
I missed the game, meeting the girlfriend's parents .
But, woahhh, awesome! Who would have thought the Rangers would be up 2-0?
orangeblobman@ 4/20/2009 10:18 PM
Freaking weird...could have put it away tonight.
orangeblobman@ 4/23/2009 12:02 AM

Of course... I saw the game. Drury was money tonight. KING MOTHER FUCKIN HENRIK was a stud, per usual. Scott Gomez looked great, so did Naslund. And Callahan, Betts, and Sjostrom all were great on the forecheck and PK. Mara was the teams best defenseman, and that's saying something because Staal and Redden both were great and no defensemen sucked. Zherdev is likely done after this season, but he wasn't a ghost tonight. Antropov had a quietly effective game.
The two downers were (1) the amount of chances the Caps had and (2) Sean Avery being a moron. KING MOTHER FUCKIN HENRIK had to come up huge. He absolutely robbed Semin and there were three or four other shots that would've been goals with another goalie. I don't care how good KING MOTHER FUCKIN HENRIK is, that scares me. As for Sean, he had some dumb, dumb, DUMB penalties. Some people would argue they were questionable calls, and maybe they were, but they were close enough where the referees are going to call it against him because of his reputation. They cut to Torts face after one and he hunched over and grabbed his face like his head was about to explode
jimimou@ 4/23/2009 9:35 AM
i think the rangers need to talk to avery, or bench him if need be, so he doesnt pull anymore s*it this series. his penalty late in the 3rd almost cost the rangers the lead - lundquist is a stud for his 37 saves (i think) - he's really the one whose allowed the rangers to gain the advantage in this series....one thing, they better close out now in wash b/c wash is clearly the better team (havent been playing that way tho) and they might wake up - rangers cant be pressing their luck too long, close this thing out in 5.
