http://www.labor.state.ny.us/ui/claimant...Governor Paterson has signed legislation approving an additional thirteen (13) weeks of extended unemployment insurance benefits, for individuals who exhaust their 33 weeks of Emergency Benefits. If you have a claim with New York State, but live in another state that is not in an extended benefit period, you will be eligible for only 2 weeks of extended benefits. The additional weeks of Extended Benefits may be claimed in the usual manner starting on Sunday, May 24, 2009.
To qualify for the 13 weeks of Extended Benefits, you must comply with the extended benefits work search requirement (see Frequently Asked Questions below).
Note: If you are attending approved training under the 599 program, you are not required to look for work while claiming benefits.
