7/9/09 - Flushing, NY. A seven-year-old boy was at the center of a courtroom drama today when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulations requiring that family unity be maintained to the degree possible. The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried out that they also beat him. After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him. After two recesses to check legal references and confer with child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the New York Mets, whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone.

No, it was not. It is the truth that, if meditated upon enough, most reasonable human beings will come to understand as well.
Ah. So I didn't read the ENTIRE post, I'm afraid. The last sentence escaped me. I am sorry.
On that note, it's a pretty good joke.
Still, it takes away nothing from my argument, as there is plentiful stock from which to pull example of situations just as preposterous as this, and just as detrimental to the survival of Man as this. Cheers.
Edit:
And it speaks of the character of you, supremecommander, that you chose in this instance of mistaken comprehension to criticize and make a fool of a fellow man. You could have easily pointed out the last sentence, or the fact that it was a joke; but no, you chose to spear my very intellectual foundation, to attempt to make me feel bad, to attempt to KILL-- perhaps to make up for your own shortcoming, transgressions, or God-bestowed limitations that you have such trouble coming to terms with.
I am younger, it is true, but you think, speak, and act younger than me still.
