let me say something. i'm going to be out of town this weekend but i have seen this band probably 4 times and i LOVE them. not because of the preening mick ronson wannabe guitarist. nor the awesome ginger baker like drummer. but because of the goddess on bass and vocals.

just saying.

Marv the groupie. You didn't make it to any of the LI shows though. Did they kick you off the tour bus before they got there?

i avoid LI. a man can get arrested there just for being

thanks enybro. it's nice to have the video. i wish the audio was better, but it's better than nothing. nash pretty much approached us about playing -- we just kicked him out because he signed that extension in phoenix. so now i'm playing guitar again.

we're taking over a very niche market. haha.

on a side note: peep that video. that was just a few days after michael jackson passed away and i was throwing in little MJ homages all throughout the set. at the end of the last song i threw in the first few notes of the riff from "beat it." very subtle, but it's there. you know, so many people were doing these over the top tributes -- i just wanted to throw some little things here and there. i actually forgot i did that until eny said he watched the vid. then i watched the vid again and i was like "oh damn. i did that." funny part is it sounds like someone from the audience picked up on it and whistled the remaining notes of the riff. i didn't notice that at the show. pretty cool. i love nuance. i'm glad someone there appreciated my tiny, personal, dedication.

Why not do an MJ cover if he means a lot to you. I know it takes you off your path as a band a little, but just a silly suggestion from a silly little fan.

But then again, I wouldn't be surprised if every single band in the United States of America was doing MJ covers right at this time.

well, for one, even if we intended to do a full blown cover -- we probably couldn't get it ready on that short notice. beyond that, it was a little over the top for a few weeks there with the MJ stuff. i saw some bands do some good stuff, but i saw some terrible stuff. it was really cringe-worth considering the fact that he had just died and here people were butchering his music. so i kinda played it safe, but really -- there was no other option. we haven't busted out any covers and we surely weren't gonna throw one together so quickly.

"Beat It" cover with bukkake background dancers... imagine the possibilities.

Yeahm, I'm out in Jersey, not near Long Branch though (I'm in the Morristown area.) I'd like to catch one of your city shows... one of these days bro.
VDesai @ 7/23/2009 9:25 AM
You guys probably could do a pretty sick cover of Dirty Diana

yeah man, that's a good idea. we mess with covers in practice. mostly pink floyd, led zeppelin. i might have to mix that one in.

Any chance you'll change your name to:

"Do you see the Darko"

Has a nice ring to it

It was f'n crazy. Talk about drama. On thursday my amp started acting funny. Then it settled down. Then it started acting funny again the day of the show. I took a risk and said F it, I'll play with my amp and hope all goes well. Hit the stage, plug in all my equipment, flip the switch, amp turns on, take it off standby, and there's no sound coming out of it. It went from sounding sorta funny to being completely dead.

I went over all my connections and everything was straight so I finally decided to take everything out of the mix. The amp worked, but it sounded terrible. We played anyway and I guess it gradually settled into sounding OK. When we listened to the recording later, I was surprised it actually sounded pretty good. A lot of people told me that it was the best show they had seen us play so I guess it couldn't have been that bad.

I'm sending the amp to the shop tomorrow, it's long overdue for a tuneup. Really looking forward to getting my baby back better than ever. For me, last night's gig was like one of those Michael Jordan "I got the flu, but I'm still scoring 60 points on you" type shows. Despite all the problems, we still f'n rocked it.
