Couldn't make it last night dude, but hope you had a great show!
It was f'n crazy. Talk about drama. On thursday my amp started acting funny. Then it settled down. Then it started acting funny again the day of the show. I took a risk and said F it, I'll play with my amp and hope all goes well. Hit the stage, plug in all my equipment, flip the switch, amp turns on, take it off standby, and there's no sound coming out of it. It went from sounding sorta funny to being completely dead.
I went over all my connections and everything was straight so I finally decided to take everything out of the mix. The amp worked, but it sounded terrible. We played anyway and I guess it gradually settled into sounding OK. When we listened to the recording later, I was surprised it actually sounded pretty good. A lot of people told me that it was the best show they had seen us play so I guess it couldn't have been that bad.
I'm sending the amp to the shop tomorrow, it's long overdue for a tuneup. Really looking forward to getting my baby back better than ever. For me, last night's gig was like one of those Michael Jordan "I got the flu, but I'm still scoring 60 points on you" type shows. Despite all the problems, we still f'n rocked it.

Nice job eViL. I wish I could make one of your Manhatten shows one day soon. It just unfortunately takes a lot for me to make a trip to Manhatten.
Your band is still awesome though and you play a great guitar.

Thanks bro. We gotta find a place in Staten that has an awesome sound system so you can hear us proper status.

bro, for someone who'd like to learn how to play guitar would u recommend taking formal classes or can u get by with online tutorials & just messing around w/different chords through memorization of finger placement? i mean i'm not looking to be no classical guitar virtuoso, just wanna learn a few riffs & have fun with it.

i'm all about learning on your own, but the guidance of guitar teacher can really help you skip past some common hurdles. no substitute for dedication and patience though. i learn a lot of stuff today on youtube. but i've been playing since way before youtube so i have no reference for what it would be like to start from scratch with just youtube vids. if i had to guess, i'd say you can probably do pretty well with all that free stuff.
i'm more than happy to use this thread or start another for you (and others, i know allanfan is learning) to bounce ideas about guitar back and forth. here's a place to start, this video will teach you some basic chords that are the foundation for a lot of popular songs:

You HAVE to practice though. You can get all the schooling you want from a pro teacher so they can show you what you're doing wrong and show you some better practice tips, but you gotto practice all of that a lot. There's no other option.
