Won't jump for me at work, but I saw a few minutes of his halucination rants live and the dude is just plain wack.
I feel bad for Mrs. Starbury who has to live with this special person and share her life.
Behind close doors might be another story but this guy is just one emotional train wreck. The scowel must be there when things don't go your way but he always looks like he just had electroshock theropy and trying to convnice us he is ok.

He's probably thinking about someone he loved who died, like his Dad. Clearly this song touched something in him. I can't stand the dude as a basketball player, he was an albatross in so many ways, but that doesn't take anything away from him as a human. He certainly ain't faking this. I respect his humanity and appreciate that he can feel. Now hopefully he resigns with the Celtics and PHCKS them up like he did the NYK.

my man dancin' in the mirror...
Nothing wrong with crying. It's nutty he's doing it like this in a public forum, but if something touches someone, nothing wrong with letting it all out.
This is a good example of athletes being WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY OVERPAYED and OVERHYPED. This guy has good odds of being homeless in another life.
I understand being touched by a song. Nothing wrong with that.. I just wonder why do it on the internet in such a fashion? that I don't get...
dont you guys feel steph's pain...

From what I read, it was Kirk Franklin's "Lean On Me" that got him teary-eyed.

What a loser. . .and yes, nothing wrong with that, nor with crying.
He's not my favorite but you got to respect what he's done for the community and got to at least give him a nod for pouring himself out there like that.
Steph has dropped right off a cliff though not that he was all there to begin with.
I'm not going to hate on him for this though.

...Because he is an egotist and has no friends strong enough to stand up to him and tell him that he is/was being a fool.
Its like that old fairy tale "The Emperor's New Clothes," where the king's sycophantic followers don't have the guts to tell him he is naked.
I don't know how many kids he has or how old they are, but I wish one of them had been old enough to see what he was doing and tell him to stop it because he was making a fool of himself.
I'm a big proponent of Macintosh computers, but I'm not sure that Steve Jobs is going to be using footage from Marbury's broadcasts to promote their computers.

I think it's the opposite. He just doesn't care what anyone thinks of him and he's putting himself out there. I can respect that. He has indeed lost his mind over the years though. Not going to pretend I know his pain and why he got this far though that's his thing to worry about.
Just take it for what it is - some dude throwing himself out there - and not giving a damn what people think.
The only people that should be worried about it are Steph, the people close to him, and whoever might want to give him a basketball contract. The rest of us are spectators.
or the guy is making $$$'s b/c of this and is acting this way on purpose...

Nah. Steph doesn't seem like that to me. Is he getting paid? Maybe but by who? It's an internet webcast.
This is Steph being himself. He's not following a script. This is him right out there in the open. This is reality TV for real for a change. Not scripted "reality" TV.
Dude is freaking out, guys. I hope he actually signed his contract with the Celts before he did this because this type of "internet fame" behavior stuff HAS GOT to concern any professional sports franchise.
excerpt from:
http://dimemag.com/2009/07/team-usa-wrap...Team USA wraps up camp, and Stephon Marbury has issues
By Dime Magazine
...here’s an e-mail from one of our boys:
“I found Stephon Marbury on Twitter today and decided to follow him. Then I left the house, came back 2 hours later, and had to un-follow him. He was tweeting literally every minute and most of his tweets were crazy replies to himself. From ‘You’re making a sandwich and it’ll be dope’ to rambling self-help quotes. Steph’s lost it.” We checked, and here’s an unedited random sample of one of Steph’s tweets: “speak into my vision. If you can’t feel me don’t be near me. Its still love. I will feel you from a far. Don’t take it the wrong way.” … And by now you might’ve heard about Steph’s 24-hour live chat that has become just short of legend. At one point during the chat, Steph said, “I don’t care about the NBA, those days are over with.” If Steph really does go to Europe, there’s gonna be a major battle for whoever gets the rights to have him blog about it …

Egotist: the practice of talking about oneself too much; an exaggerated sense of self-importance
He is doing what an egotist does- this broadcast captures the essence of the word.
His wife actually just called up and it seemed like she was trying to get him to look at what he was doing.
His egotism is his defense mechanism- it serves to filter reality so that reality doesn't damage him, but exposing himself like this goes a bit too far.
Maybe it is the internet and reality TV dominated society we live in today which makes you feel that what he is doing is beyond criticism and should just be accepted, but from where I come from, this type of thing is egotistical, selfish, self-indulgent, and more than a bit pathetic. It is also sad... and I don't even like the guy. For the people who really love him-not the yes-men he surrounds himself with- this must be torturous to watch. The fact that he would not think about them tells us all you need to know about him.
