Awesome.. I've seriously been looking forward to this movie and was hoping it would live up to the hype...
OasisBU @ 8/14/2009 8:38 AM

Finestrg @ 8/14/2009 8:52 AM
Seeing it tonight. Can't wait. Right up my alley.

The story looks so original and interesting, while looking as real as an alien film can look. Can't freaking wait to see it and make films like that in the future.

Hell yeah dude. Let us know. I'm gonna see it, not tonight though, but curious of everyone's opinions.

Based on a true story.

the director is from south africa and was set to direct the Halo movie.

He is the perfect storm for district 9.

Saw it today. Incredible. Loved it! Story, acting and F/X were top notch. A combination of so many cool movies -- Alien Nation, Aliens, V, Robocop....and yet unbelievably original on it's own. Every once in awhile, a sci-fi flick comes out that just blows your doors off - this is definitely one of those. It was awesome. Nyk - run, don't walk bro!!!

Wow, that's crazy how everyone thinks so high of this movie. It must be jackpot. Can't wait to see it.
djsunyc @ 8/16/2009 10:37 AM
saw it last night. thought it was a quality movie...
bitty41 @ 8/16/2009 1:01 PM
I dragged one of my girlfriends to this who has zero interest in Sci fi and we both absolutely loved it. We found it at times sad, funny, and thought-provoking.
orangeblobman @ 8/16/2009 4:19 PM
It was good but the real meaning will fly over the heads of many bleeding-heart liberals.
Allanfan20 @ 8/16/2009 4:34 PM
Outstanding movie. Very very touching.
Caseloads @ 8/16/2009 5:14 PM
I saw the film. Did not think it was THAT amazing. Am I missing something? Care to break it down for me?

i agree that it wasn't *that* amazing but it was well done...

it portrayed aliens like jews during the holocaust and humanized them. it made relationships between them and human believeable and it wasn't scifi in a geeky way.
Caseloads @ 8/16/2009 6:00 PM
Weird part is that the alien christopher seemed so intelligentwhile the rest of the aliens seemed mindless.
Caseloads @ 8/16/2009 6:04 PM
Furthermore, if the aliens had such cool weapons, why didn't they kick human butt earlier? And if they were peaceful, why have such bad ar$se weaponry?

Anyone think there is going to be a sequel? Especially since the alien christopher left and told wikus he'd be back in 3 years...

And why didn't the humans try to figure out why the ship had stalled out?

They did have cool weapons but they were unable to use them, likely because they were some type of 'drone class' within their alien hierarchy. there were no leaders among excepting christopher johnson, who was probably a trojan horse leader who was sent to get the real scoop and set the scene, now he will come back and destroy the 'humanity', and the Wikus helped him, which is a traitor, and we will lose humanity because we let the aliens live, and now, look.

You know what's weird I thought of the Palestinians or the Japanese-Americans because the Holocaust was just straight extermination (though there was so-called work camps). One of my friends whose South African was telling me about the large number of refugees that they get from various war-torn countries in Africa so maybe the Director had them in mind. Btw Johannesburg is suppose to be really bad in some parts makes the America's worse inner-city look like Mayberry.
