Big fan of Tarantino and looking forward to two hours of "Natzies" getting pummeled as the main story line.

Not as much action as the trailers lead you to believe but Tarantino gift is dialog, style, music and some hard scenes.

The Kill Bill series were masterpieces if you understood where he was going with them. "Spagetti western meets Hong Kong action" on the "B" movie level was the goal there. My son and I both dig the flicks but when a literary snob like my wife (thats a good thing actually) Sits down and sees Uma Thruman slicing and dicing hordes of screaming men she thinks its crap. Uma is great. She should have been on the Alba tournament. She is top 20.

Not to say Tarantino movies are all great ones, but the man at least tries. The Grindhouse series I thought were a hoot, but not much more.

Mcgowen and Dawson were awsome!

Who else can make an amputee hot?

Huge Tarentino fan myself and I've been hearing about the script for this movie for about 5 years - this is supposedly one of the first scripts he started working on. As you said Nalod, Tarentino isn't about the glitz and the glamor, he's about the dialog and the presentation, but no make no mistake there will be plenty of glitz and glamor.

Looking really forward to seeing this.

Saw the movie last nite and loved it! More thriller and intrigue than straight out slashing Nazi's with humor inuendos.

Tarrentino made a great move. dialog and tension scenes were suspensful.

Unpredicatable thru out so it made for a great movie.
Allanfan20 @ 8/22/2009 12:51 PM
Was this a thriller or a comedy? I still want to see it, regardless.
orangeblobman @ 8/22/2009 12:52 PM
Yea, ofcourse, it's always a great joy to bash on European Germans, wow, what fun.

When will hollywood give the 'Natzis' a rest?

How far can one milk this subgenre?
Allanfan20 @ 8/22/2009 12:53 PM
PS: Both Rosario and McGowen could have easily killed Bar Rafelli and Josie Maran.

They bash Nazi's in this movie not EuroGermans. The movie takes place in occupied France, so the only germans in the movie are "Natsies".

The Movie "Defiance" was about survival of some polish jews in Poland. The only Germans in occupied Poland in the movie were Nazis.

"Valkyre" was about Germans who were prideful about their country and thought the Nazi party and the war was hurting Germany.

These movies are not bashing Nazi' but the human spirit.

Movies about rising up against oppression are historically very well recieved.

Orange, you remind me of the Will Ferrel charactor in the movie version of "The Producers". He was offended the way his people were portrayed in the show.

BTW, great topic to bring up at a dinner party!! You'll be a hit!

Throw in a few "Pol Pot" jokes and you'll be epic!

orangeblobman @ 8/22/2009 1:31 PM
Thanks Nalod, i'll check out this "Producers' movie.

I've got to run now, though, so I'll let you know the happenings at a later scale.

I wish the Basterds were actually in the movie more than they were. Wasn't too interested in the other story they presented with the French chick, and it is a long movie, but still a good one. Brad Pitt is absolutely hilarious.

I just saw it - theater was packed - I loved it, but I am a big QT fan as well. I thought it was clever and very well done - plenty of gore without overdoing it, enough action, great dialogue and it had a lot of funny moments.

I recommend it. Still haven't seen District 9 - maybe if it rains I will check that out tomorrow.
firefly @ 8/22/2009 11:06 PM
I love the fact that I dont have to get involved in this threads sub-debate. Just waiting for OBM to apologize for displaying his Nazi defense in the wrong forum.

Soooooo, looking forward to this movie. A QT movies with Nazis instead of ninjas? Epic!
orangeblobman @ 8/23/2009 12:08 AM
First off, no one defended Nazis. That would be sick and disgusting. I don't know where you guys go tthat-- but then, you're no strangers to twisting words.

My only point was that the whole 'kill nazis' bit is so over done in movies. kind of like stoner movies, too.

This is the only "kill Natzi" movie I can ever recall.

doe it penetrate that the last few WWII era movies were not about "Natzi's".

Again, Defiance was in occupied Poland and surviving in the woods, Vaylkerie was some Germans who wanted Hitler dead, and Basterds in Occupied France.

What are the other Movies you refer to?

I don't know, man. It's just that there is a lot of world war 2 in my life with the video games and movies. Pretty much every computer game has that in it.
Nalod @ 8/24/2009 7:48 AM
for someone who is shouting the benefits for riding a bike outside and getting "Naket" and chasing wild boar instead of getting a gym membership should not be overwelmed by any video game content cuz you should cutting down on them anyway.

Movie content, Televison show content, and Video content is all controlled by the on/off button.

Unplug man!
