I watched that last few minutes live. That was one heckuva throw. Think about it--7-8 yards behind the line of scrimmage under pressure he steps into a pass that goes nearly 50 yards on a line to the only spot that to could be placed to make that completion--truly one of the best live sport plays I have ever seen. It was no hail mary--it was just an unbelievable play executed to perfection and set up by a great 40 second drive with no timeouts. This guy really is just a great great true football player with unbelievable moxy physicality and skill. He's like an MJ or a Kobe--that attitude of willing a team to win beyond the skills. Also look how well the play was designed. Both wide outs were used as decoys and the slot receiver had enough time to get depth into the endzone and cut across the backline giving Farve an angle for the target

Briggs, its been said before and Ill say it again... love that you have finally learned how to implement youtube vids!!! Great athletes never fail to work on their game!!! ;-) Great pass by Favre too!!!

Utterly impressive. My friend is a 49ers fan. That had to be a heartbreaker.

In Libya you do not have a choice of what football game you watch... and I'm lucky enough to have the TV package where at least I get to see one game.
What a game that was. The Vikes kicked the Niners butts the first half yet the latter led. Then the Vikes wrestled it away, the Niners took it back, then Favre gets the ball on the 20 and Singletary decides giving the WRs 10-20 yards of cushion is acceptable--such soft coverage--which set up one spectacular throw. In some ways I'm glad I got that game over the Giants

Supreme, You gotta keep us posted on life in Libya. I feel like we all have a little invested here. Perhaps an OT are a sticky thread.

I always thought if Sterling Sharpe stayed healthy that he and Farve would have gone down as the best combo ever and won a handful of titles just like Montana/Young won with Rice.
That being said Farve really is a gunslinger. Right or wrong he goes in firing. He has absolutely no fear and in that kind of scenario he's perfect. Its also killed him though, and the pass he threw as a Packer is a perfect example. Overtime, first possesion, NFC title game and he makes a terrible terrible chuck which the Giants pick off for an easy INT leading to a trip to the Superbowl.
You talk about guys that are "good for the sport" and Brett is definatly that

better catch than throw - Favre & the vikes got lucky. I love favre & his grit and determination.

My first thoughts too.
The catch was as good as any you will ever see.
Favre has always been freaky in his ability to make throws like that, though.

F da Vikings. The Jets are 3-0 baby. Alright let me not be a hater...that was a great play.
VDesai@ 9/28/2009 10:19 AM
That's Brett Favre for you. He has a flair for the spectacular. Thing is half the time he'll do something like that and get intercepted.

Very true, and in most situations, the interceptions won't get the airplay the great passes will get.

The catch was good but many receivers couldve made that--how many people on this earth could make that throw? That was 50 yards on a line[took less than 3 seconds to get into his hands he threw it from a slight angle under immense pressure and put it in the only possible spot it couldve been placed to make a play. If you really watch the play it was a designed route. This was no luck--it was executed to perfection under extreme circumstances--the defense knew it was coming and it still got there. The combination of the speed of the pass and the placement were both pivotal and there are few on the earth who could get it there. Plenty of guys could catch it--although the catch was a great pro play as well.

c'mon briggs, dont pull an ESPN and give Favre all the credit and the glory..
It was a great play by both, the WR made the catch with momentum going OUT of bounds and kept his feet in with defenders draped all over him.
It worked this time, but those are the type of throws that are routinely picked off. SMH @ ESPN's dykkriding of Favre, tho! Its just amazing the stuff that comes out of their mouth when they are talking about that guy.

I agree with what you are saying about the man love ESPN shows Farve, but that play was awesome. He was under immense pressure and throwing that ball on a rope was just spectacular. Madden must have jizzed all over himself after the game.

I agree with all that. Great throw, but the catch was equally as great. Its not sacrilegious to the God Farve to give the receiver some love too.
