Anyone listening/watching today?

They switched to new offices and there are crazy sound issues in the new booth.

I'd love to be there during the commercial breaks when the tech geeks get their heads bit off by that dude.

I just had him on. Yeah, looks like a different camera view - head on now.Man do I miss the Mad Dog. Francesa's usually a good listen and pretty smart and informative but I just can't stand the way he talks to the callers. I miss Dog man. My wife has Sirius in her truck - that's when I listen to Dog's show and he's still as good, funny and caller-friendly as ever. Long live the Mad Dog!!
kam77 @ 10/12/2009 2:02 PM
The callers are saying dumb things though.
JohnWallace44 @ 10/12/2009 2:07 PM
Mike has so much detailed memory of all the important and even the unimportant sports events of the last 50 years.

Dog has no idea what happened yesterday sometimes.

I think Mike is better by himself, but could be improved with the right co-host. Brian Tierney would be good IMO.

Brandon Tierney ??

When it comes to basketball, Fatcessca knows absolutely nothing yet he pretends like he does. He only knows about baseball and football. Same with dog. I hated listening to them on the FAN when discussing the Knicks because it was clear they knew shit and just read off what that day's paper said.
nyk4ever @ 10/12/2009 2:45 PM
Listen to Mike everyday. That new studio is such an improvement over the crap it looked like they had previously. I have XM so I get to listen to Doggy too, but I listen to Mike more. Just a habit of listening to WFAN. Would love to have them back together.

Good call. I love BT. BT might go a long way in adding a much needed basketball element to Mike's show that's been absent for a long time. The Knicks becoming a halfway decent team would do the trick too I guess.

Mike is the most pompous condescending douchebag in the NY media. He's friends with Bill Parcells. Whoop de do. I used to listen to him and Russo and they were decent. Mike is just another blow hard that knows more than the rest of the world.

When did sports become about guys like that? Or who knows more?

I listen to about 15 minutes a day of Boomer and the other guy in the morning en route to work and thats my fill
TMS @ 10/12/2009 2:58 PM
BT is my favorite & should just have his own show on YES... Fat Mike is knowledgeable on baseball & horse racing but he's too arrogant sometimes, his opinion is always the be all & end all of any conversation he has w/any of his listeners... Chris Russo is the most annoying person on the airwaves, i'm glad he's gone.

He's OK. I like ESPN radio much better. Michael Kay is pretty good to listen to and so is Brandon Tierny and Colin Herd is good too.

Sports radio gets old though pretty quick.
djsunyc @ 10/12/2009 3:00 PM
i think francessa is a douche.
and tierney doesn't know sh t.

i get more enjoyment from trying to decipher what nalod is saying than listening to those fools...
EnySpree @ 10/12/2009 3:02 PM
I agree with fishmike on francessa....

Brandon tierney is the man. He's cool as hell.
Nalod @ 10/12/2009 3:53 PM
I just found YES on my cable line up the other day. I never realized its been there and for how long I don't know. I set my box for favorites and rarely change it.

I listened to Mad Dog on his XM show and his stammering is almost unlistenable. Lots of filler nonsense and transparent drama and posturing. I usually switch over to ESPN radio or Fox Sports. Gary Williams is ok in the morning but Mike an Mike do a pretty good job and its only a 13 minute drive for me in the morning.

If it's only a 13 minute drive in the morning, have you considered riding your bicyle? Your brain would benefit immensely.

Mike likes to listen to himself talk, even when he's interviewing a guest athlete on his show... always preaching to the choir telling them how they need to approach the upcoming game, like he knows what they need to do better than they do... it's funny sometimes.

Agree big time. He has become too much of a sports talk show celebrity to be a reporter when he interviews someone. He talks down to folks who ask foolish questions or make foolish comments, without first questioning where they are coming from in a diplomatic way.

And as someone pointed out, except for baseball and football, he does not know much about sports.

I have hardly listened to his show at all since Russo left.
TMS @ 10/12/2009 5:38 PM
did u hear him interviewing Antonio Pierce? i think Mike actually thinks he knows more about football than the guys who are actually playing the games.
JohnWallace44 @ 10/12/2009 5:57 PM
I think he does a good job.

Mike knows more than any radio host I've ever heard in terms of NY sports history, and specific sports like horse racing.

He doesn't know anything about basketball and I think he'd admit that. Watch the Knicks get good again and I bet you he'll study up real quick.

He knows enough about Syracuse and UConn. Why is that? Because they're relevant. The Knicks are not relevant right now.
NYKBocker @ 10/12/2009 6:41 PM
Mike only knows baseball. He knows nothing about football or basketball.

Russo only knows about baseball and tennis.

both guys are idiots.
