Just finished first week of work at a startup jet brokerage, selling on-demand private jet service to what remains of the upper crust. If you've got cash to blow, I'll get you a great deal on a pimped out jet. Still running my own marketing business too.

How insane is this economy? Seems like the whole country is in denial about what sorry shape we're in sometimes. I saw that the "real" unemployment rate is 17%. My buddies in finance are just hoping to get let go so they can take their cushy severance packages and travel the world meanwhile, my buddies in marketing are just doing whatever they can to hang on if they haven't lost their jobs yet.

I made about 350 cold calls this week, which is something I never thought I would have to do to make a living in the past.

Aside from Briggs stock tips, how is the rest of the UK community getting by?

congrats on the new gig... i feel ur pain, the marketing industry is some serious slim pickings on jobs out there... everyone is looking to hire cheap, entry level staff these days... can't seem to find a job if my life depended on it... just gonna have to ride out the storm i guess until things get better... when that'll be is anyone's guess.

You shouldn't be saying this while I am on this forum.

That's weird, it didn't show my whole post.

I'm glad to hear someone else say that. I probably put out a thousand resumes over the Summer.

Seems like there aren't too many simple answers out there.

I took an independent contracting job in consulting and have been doing it since the beginning of Sept. I never wanted a job where I would be on the road most of the time and now I am gone Sunday night - Thursday night and sometimes Friday afternoon.

The experience has been good, it is putting a strain on my relationship though. However, these days you gotta do what you gotta do to survive. Its rough out there.

Dude, I hear you. Htat's why I moved to effing Libya. Here's how I see it: we're in for *at least* three years of hurt.

Look at it this way, in "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu, he basically worte a nation can either spend domestically or spend on warring but not both. WTF are we doing?

Furthermore, we buy everything. We have no competitive job industry. I suppose you could say it was finance but... the financial sector is supposed to provide liquidity for the real economy--you know, for people that actually make things.

Anyway, good luck at the new job and with the marketing gig.
