my son caused me to be nostalgic when he asked me what was my favorite christmas gift of all time. to be honest, i had two:
autobot jazz- most of you can tell that i am a big closet transformer nerd with my username. i loved transformers and my favorite one was jazz because he was my first. i received him for christmas and he was by far my favorite action figure of all time. though it took months for me too transform him the right way, i still had many fun moments with jazz. great toy.
colecovision- this is my most memorable and impact gift of all time because without this happening, i wouldnt be into video games today. i was the only few that had this system since everyone else had atari but most of my friends came over to play this because its graphics was as close to the arcade as you can get ( tho i had a black and white tv in my room. lol.) there were many afternoons wasted playing donkey kong and donkey kong jr. then they released that garbage of a game e.t. which almost single handedly destroyed the game industry.
anyone else would like to share?
moved this over... why not, it's holiday season.
this Spiderman Big wheel when i was 5
Team Murray dirt bike when i was 7
Atari 2600 system when i was 8
Nintendo NES system when i was 14
Voltes V. This was way before Voltron and this was back in the Philippines. I actually purchased the whole series in VCD a couple of years ago and showed it to my kids. It was unbelievably un-politically correct. LOL.
ah dude, ur bringing back some memories... my best friend got these for Christmas one year & i was so freakin' jealous!
Best present ever was my Sega Genesis back in '95. It was my first game system. It stands out because I wanted it so bad and my parents totally surprised me by getting it and no other Christmas present stands out like that one.
Second best, I got this sweater from my girlfriend, back in '02, and I still wear it. It has a hole in it now.
Great Mazinga!! I also loved Daimos and Mazinger Z, but Voltes V kicked everybodies arse.
Ok, I'm going to be a lil sentimental here. Best present(s) I have EVER gotten were on my 18th birthday.
My (ex)girlfriend (who was in Texas at the time) sat on a bus for 3 days to surprise me the morning of my birthday. That was also the same birthday my sister took us on a road trip to the city and bought me tickets to my first Knicks game.
As for an actual object - my Sony Playstation when I was 10. Came with Monster Rancher, Twisted Metal 2, and Crash Bandicoot 2.
Wow, lots of video games making best ever...
...and I'm no different. Mine was the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. I told my parents that was all I wanted--I didn't want anything else--and that was the only time I ever did that. So, Christmas Morning comes and I didn't get the SNES. My parents asked if I got everything I wanted and, apparently, my sister ranks how I said "yes" among her all-time sad, gut wrenching moments.
Get to my grandparents and they gave me a SNES.
i forgot to mention my ex gave me a nice morning present one Christmas

she was well prepared that year
as a kid thats and easy one... Like my son is now I was a huge Lego-head and this was the crown jewel of my fleet for many many years
As an adult.. thats an easy one also. I got this 3 days ago
In 1985, I got this in the NBA draft.
I really wanted this but it was too expensive for my parents

commodore 64 were great back then and kept the video game markets open after atari/ colecovision and intellivision. donkey kong was better on the 64 because it was the only one with the sandpit level. it is funny, like someone mentioned, that video game system made most of the lists. i guess it defines a generation. my ex's also gave me my recent game systems like playstation, gamecube ( ex-wife) and xbox 360 ( ex girlfriend) but the first one holds a special place in my heart.
anybody remember this? my older bro got this for his birthday one year & we used to play the crap out of it... it came w/interchangeable screen covers for each game.
spent christmas eve and day in Salzburg, austria with the family 3 years ago enroute to Insbruck and Vienna.
Some European cities at christmas is magic!
