its going to halftime in a minute. You can also see Jerome Jordan on Tulsa he's on the opposite team.

too bad i don't get that channel... for anyone who's interested, Derrick Favors/Gani Lawal (GA Tech) vs. UNC on ESPN2

the difference between J Jordan being a pretty good NBA 5 and not is the effort and tenacity he plays with. It seems like when he plays hard--he looks like a top 20 pick like tonight. When he drags he looks like a 2nd rounder. Whiteside will be a top 6 pick.

TMS @ 3/11/2010 9:53 PM
all i know on Whiteside is stuff i've read on scouting reports... seems like he is a very raw prospect that needs a lot of work according to the material i find online on him... personally, i like Derrick Favors, i think he'll make a nice NBA player right out the gate (albeit he's a 4)... kid has nice hops, tenacious on the boards, blocks shots & can score in the paint... Favors & Patrick Patterson are the two forwards that i like out of this year's draft so far.

He's raw and needs to gets stronger but he's a big time prospect. He's pretty fluid extremely long and athletic with some decent skills. If I compared Hasheem Thabeet's first year in college--this guy is Bill Russell--that's how much more advanced he is. When you see a freshmen play a senior you have to do some projection. This guy has a ton of physical talent. I could easily see him top 3. It depend s who is drafting and where they are in development. This guy is a shot blocking force who will be able to score and rebound--he'll need some time but well worth it. If I was a Minnesota I would be seriously looking at him 3+

TMS @ 3/11/2010 10:22 PM
nah, Minny don't need no bigs, unless they're planning on dumping Al... my bet is Minny will be in the market for an athletic wing player... they're obviously set at the point & in their frontcourt... someone like Wesley Johnson or Evan Turner would be a nice fit for that team, or even that Aminu kid out of Wake Forest if they choose to trade down a few slots to maximize value.
BRIGGS @ 3/11/2010 10:43 PM
If you can get the BYU feed--go watch Jimmer Freddette--what a F show this guy is putting on.

He ended up with 45 pts 6 assits 5 rebounds

well this was a special one as i was chided a lot on it.

There are a handful of players, usually bigs who just take too long for their current team to stick with and end up playing much better somewhere else. Whiteside is a good example of that. Would the Knicks have stuck with him for the 4 years it took to get him going? Tyson Chandler is a high caliber guy that comes to mind also. Jermaine Oneil... you get the idea.

Yep absolutely fishmike--I knew that--there is no doubt about that--some bigs take long developmental time. I knew it then that it would take 2-3 year for him to develop. Were not privy to character of a player or work ethic--I dont know what Hassan's was like--I don't know if he was a bad teammate--the only thing I knew was he had lottery type talent potential. Its hard sports are a now business. I think Philidelphia--the way they are doing things--mightve been a good place for Whiteside at his time of development. They have put no immediate thrust on their drafted players. They are developing, If we look at Whitesides D league stats--my take is he coulkdve been productive like this perhaps as much as two years ago with he proper team.

its tough... you really have to evaluate what is between the ears just as much as their physical tools. You cant succeed on the strength of only one. Derrick Coleman remains one of the most talented player I have ever seen. His problem was between the ears. Then you have bigs like Brad Miller and Ben Wallace.. undrafted overlooked guys who had high impact pro careers.

I guess the only point I can make is you need to have your eyes open for all of them. I mean Wear might be the most dedicated hardest working player on the planet and if thats the case and he stays healthy maybe he has a great pro career. How do you find that out? By creating an environment players can grow and thrive.

That was one of Phil's early points that stuck with me. He said it doesnt matter if he's your highest paid star or the last guy on the bench, the Knicks need a culture where EVERY player can grow and be challenged and progress. Kool-aid there but fingers crossed.

At least we seem to using the Dleague. Maybe Galloway is one of those later bloomers. He's got a 6'9 wingspan, can really shoot, plays D and has the same verticle leap DWade had when he came into the league. We need to find some of these guys who were overlooked but become good NBA players.

THAT is what will turn this franchise around the fastest. When we won the 54 games we did a good job finding role players like Novak and Copeland who overlooked or struggling in their current roles and undervalued. Fingers crossed

Hey man, right there with ya. I took him in the lottery in our own UK draft a few years ago. Nice to see that he's finally arrived. The Knicks again asleep at the wheel. What if, what if...

BRIGGS @ 2/2/2015 12:54 PM
I'm sure living legend you have posts like this
Knicks1969 @ 2/2/2015 2:04 PM
There is one big 6'9" type player out there that he Knicks should definitely pursue in free agency. He has the wingspan of a pure 7 footer, block shots, rebound and can defend with the best of them. His offensive game is not too good, but he has a good head on his shoulder. His name is Bismak Biyambo. That dude is the next Ben Walace if you ask me. Instead of looking to pay guys like Greg Monroe big money, I would say get this kid and draft a pure scoring big that can stretch the floor to play next to him. Rasheed Wallace and Ben Wallace tandem was one of the best front courts in the game for a very long time.
