What a waste of an evening. They billed this a three fight megafight and it sucked donkey balls. Complete and utter horse shit.

Fight one featured a two over-the-hill guys with Hughes and Gracie. They kept helping each other up and playing slap ass. Looked like Gracie was like "dude, I will give you half my check if you don't light me up." And Hughes straight up refused to put him away when he could have several times.

Second fight was Penn and Edgar. I like Edgar. He was fast and scored points. But Penn looked soft as hell and out of shape. I was enjoying rooting from the fighter from Jersey but come the fuck on. Pick up your skirt, grab your balls, and get to work. Unbelievable that the champ would take the night off like that.

And lastly, Silva versus Maia. Silva is a piece of shit. Maia wasn't in his class. Not even close. So he took the opportunity to humiliate him. And then he didn't engage. The fight went the distance. Two rounds of Silva doing NOTHING. Dana White went to Silva's corner irate. The crowd started booing Silva and cheering for Maia. In the last round, the ref finally threatened to take a point away ifhe kept doing nothing but he mad the threat with < 1 minute left.

A complete BS card. What a crock of shit.

Penn has been getting gassed in recent matches... i dunno who's his conditioning coach but he seriously needs to dedicate himself to building up his stamina if we wants to be remembered as 1 of the greats of alltime... i didn't see the event but i take it from your description that Edgar won?

Anderson Silva is way too talented for the Middleweight division... no one can touch him at that weight, it's no contest... i would love to see him move up in weight class for good & take on the 205 lbers... even in the Light Heavyweight class he already took out Forrest Griffin & Rich Franklin with ease, dude was clowning on Forrest with the Muhammed Ali style head fakes & took him apart with straight jab counters to his face, Forrest literally tapped after he got repeatedly smacked in the face with straight jabs & knocked down, it was pretty embarassing... i would really like to see him fight Shogun Hua or Lyoto Machida... i think Machida's awkward style might present some problems for Silva, & Rua's all around skills & excellent submissions skill might give him a chance vs. Silva who is probably the most dominant striker i've seen when he wants to be... both of these guys can strike with the best of them so it would be a real nice matchup between either of those 2 IMO.

yeah, in a decision. One judge had Edgar winning all five rounds. One guy I was with thought Penn won 3-2, but I just don't think he knew what he was talking about.... Edgar was just in and out, bob and weave, landing shots to the face, and scored two takedowns--though he didn't keep Penn on the ground. Penn should've taken it to the ground and submitted Edgar, but It looked like there was something up with his knee.

Dana White was so pissed off that he grabbed Silva's belt and spiked it on the ground and had words with Silva's corner in the 4th... press conference he kept talking about making it up tot eh fans... read that he is considering making Silva do a defense on Spike.

I would love to see Machida and Silva fight but apparently "they are brothers" or some shit... they train together. Neither wants it. I hope Dana says, "fuck you, you two WILL fight"

the thing that sucks is I wanted to see GSP/Silva... but Dana also said that Silva doesn't deserve that fight--that's how pissed he was and how pissed everyone was.

GSP is my favorite fighter in MMA but the only way i see him standing a chance vs. Silva is if he shoots in right away using his wrestling & takes it to the ground & goes ground & pound... i don't think that would be much of an interesting fight to watch to be honest... Silva's a much better striker than GSP is & his range would be too much to handle for GSP in the stand up game.
SupremeCommander @ 4/11/2010 2:06 PM
I agree with you but I think GSP can shoot at will against most and with a few attempts could pull it off. Anyway, I just want to see greatness against greatness. Maybe Silva dominates but I'd watch that fight.

I hope White makes him fight Machida and puts that on Spike... but no chance

TMS @ 4/11/2010 2:14 PM
no doubt i think GSP could get him to the ground, i just think it would be a boring fight to watch... i think a Shogun or Machida matchup would be a much more exciting match for the fans to enjoy.

on another note, i was pretty disappointed to see how far Takenori Gomi has fallen off when he got dominated by Kenny Florian in that match that aired on Spike a couple weeks back... dude looked completely outclassed... his conditioning needs a lot of work... the Lightweight division in UFC is no joke.
