If you dont think shes been 'roiding for years, youre kidding yourself. Shes more muscular than some NFL football players. Its not natural, IMO doesnt look nice, and her coaches and fitness trainers of the past need to be investigated.

Caster Semenya had her life torn apart because someone didnt like how she looked, yet noone can see camparables in Serena?

Silverfuel @ 5/28/2010 8:11 AM
man, i never thought about it but now that you mention it; yes it is very likely she is on roids. same with her sister.

Wait your comparing Serena Williams to someone who might be intersexed? Yea okay this thread isn't too offensive. Should there be a mounted witchhunt everytime we deem an athlete's body "too muscular" I'm wondering to you think Martina Navratilova body was too muscluar and that she had been juicing for years?

One of my teammates in college had a similar body to Serena and she definietly wasn't juicing. I guess it all depends on what you are exposed to some people aren't familar with female athletes bodies.

Silverfuel @ 5/28/2010 8:47 AM
True. I should have considered/researched both sides. But bitty, like you said, I don't watch too much womens sports.

To be fair, I get why you missunderstood me, but thats not what I meant. Casters body is more masculine because of the natural testosterone her condition makes in her body. What Im saying is that Serena, while not intersexed is showing the same signs of testosterone and other blood-boosting activities we call doping. I dont think its insulting to be suspicious of an athletes body which is so far from the normal athletes body as Serenas is.

And no, I never thought Martina Navratilova was too muscular, to compare their body shapes is ridiculous.

I still find the premise of this thread offensive you are basically arguing that because you find her body to unusually muscular; an investigation should be launched against her personally for steroid use. I don’t think investigations should be launched unless there has been some legitimate evidence brought forth against an athlete male or female. I'm not even debating with you whether or not Serena is juicing but what I do take issue with is the notion that investigations should be launched arbitrarily based on what an athlete’s body looks like. Because like I said previously just from your remarks it’s apparent that you are not that familiar with the varied female athlete’s body. Serena is naturally a very thick women with large hips, chest, legs, add cardio training with weight lifting and I would expect her body to look like. I could show you female athletes from all types of sports with similar body type to that of Serena so yes she looks muscular against the average tennis player but in the spectrum of women athletes she isn’t that uncommon.

Btw Caster Semenya investigation was embarrassment, investigating an athlete’s gender publicly is pretty despicable.

Youre absolutely right, I dont have that much experience with the female athletic body and it is possible that Serena is naturally more muscular and thicker throught the body. I shouldnt make assumptions. Truth is, I follow a lot of sports and that mix of size, speed and power in a female athlete is unique. Maybe I should be praising her for dedication to excellence, but I think I do have a right to be suspicious of it, jus based on the uniqueness of it. Other sports dont require the balance, speed and cardiac engine of tennis, so sorry, while I agree I shouldnt jump to conclusions I still have reservations.

BTW, I utterly agree that you, what the SAOA and IOOC did to Caster Semenya was reprehensible. People should be fired for how they ruined that girls life.

bitty41 @ 5/28/2010 11:15 AM
I honestly I don't have a problem with people speculating it happens and I'm not the thought-police. My problem is with the notion of investigating athletes strictly on how their body's look.
OasisBU @ 5/28/2010 11:42 AM
I dunno - I think its possible but Serena is built more like her mother who is bulkier and I can see how she could put a lot of muscle on her frame.

Venus is built more like her dad - tall and skinny.

Could it be roids? Sure, anything is possible and it seems like all sports have this problem but Serena has always been pretty big.

AnubisADL @ 5/28/2010 12:21 PM
LOL at Serena on Roids. This broad is a thicky thick who is going to be fat when she stops playing professional sports.

Look at her mothers frame:

You using a pic of her in a swing motion.

As you can see it is just the angle of the pic.

I'm of the mindset that the overwhelming majority of athletes that are impressive physical specimens that have achieved anything of note in this era used performance enhancing drugs. ARod, Armstrong, Tiger, Williams, etc. Training techniques haven't improved that drastically

Tiger Woods is an impressive specimen. LOL.

You have athletes getting trained PROFESSIONALLY at younger and younger ages. Serena Williams isnt even that big.

Of course she looks big when photos of her swinging her racket are taken with her muscles tense and full with blood.

So you are saying that majority of athletes cannot dominate a sport without enhancing drugs? That’s a bs statement. Plenty of athletes have dominated sports through the ages even before steroids were invented so what was their secret? I think the media have over-hyped this steroids story in order to reconcile why certain athletes have dominated sports. It’s like they feel as though there is no way anyone can dominate a sport unless they’re juicing. Was Jesse Owens using steroids back in the 30s was Wilt Chamberlain or Ali using them in the 60s, or Billy Jean King juicing?

I used that pic cuz the point of that post was to compare her to Martina Navratilova, and I found pics of both of them in swinging motions.

And Serena looks built in all those pics you posted too.

You're forgiven however, if you'll just admit that you were just looking for an excuse to post pics of girlies.

when Tiger Woods started off his body was pretty damned soft. Again, I don't think training has advanced so much that someone like him can pull this off without help

But your premise is that athletes who dominate their sports are doing so through using performance enhancing sports and I am only trying to point out to you that this generation of athlete is no different than athletes of the past in regards to athletic achievement. You act as though the idea of dominating is a new phenomena.

SupremeCommander wrote:when Tiger Woods started off his body was pretty damned soft. Again, I don't think training has advanced so much that someone like him can pull this off without help

Do you call that being muscular? I call that being in decent shape. Everyone who works out isnt going to get ripped.

I consider guys like Corey Maggette and Reggie Bush as Physical Specimens.

Athletes like Serena and Tiger are dominating because they have been playing their respective sport since they were probably old enough to walk. I expect someone to dominate with that kind of head start.

Look at Kobe. Highly skilled when he came into the league with elite athleticism to go along with it. Being Athletic is only going to take you so far in sports that require actual skills. This isnt track and field.

Kobe must have been on Roids with those hops.
