Great game by him! Hes one of those "young guys" and won the Under-21 WC last year.
Great generation of players!!! :-)
He just has to become calmer in front of the goal!!!

You are right, he was a bit too eager to score the two times he was close to it. He had very good setups on two of the goals though. I think its safe to say Germany is better than England right firefly?

Hey, I did say earlier never underestimate the Germans . Still, I dont think that Germany is better then England. They are certainly a better team however and they are playing FAR superior football at the moment. Thats whats always so ruddy frustrating about the England team. Individually they are awesome. World-class talents at almost every position. But they put on a white shirt and they forget how to pass, how to move, how to play as a team. Itd be one thing if we were just crap, but we're not. And thats far more annoying.

BTW, and I know im going to be slated for this but to me, Ozil looks born to play in the United system. He would be absolutely perfect as a replacement for Scholes. If I was Fergie watching this game (and you know he watched it), I would be on the phone to Bremen right now with an offer. God, Rooney would break records if Ozil plays like he did tonight.

TMS wrote:so basically what ur saying is that the only reason Korea won was because Greece played like crap. how about giving a little credit to the team that won? i'm not gonna get into a debate about who follows soccer cuz i don't really know much about ur team. all i know is Korea has represented pretty well in world cup play in recent times and they should not be taken lightly. judging from how they played today i think they looked crisp and on their game. next game they may play like crap, but today they were the better team. no disrespect to the Greeks but i'm proud of how our guys played today.

Korea was easily the best team in the match I watched today

They get credit. They're just not as amazing as people are saying they are. Greece is not this bad and South Korea not this good. Normally these teams can be evenly matched but in this game Greece were thoroughly outplayed and outclassed by a better team. I'm just saying that this is partly because of the players chosen by the Greece coach. You can't say Greece totally sucked just because they naturally suck because that's not the case.

As an avid and realistic fan I didn't think we'd get passed this group. But I also didn't think we'd pick the players we did and play so poorly. South Korea has a real good chance to advance now and Greece is packing its bags. You guys have a nice team. Fast and technical. You can surprise some people. I wish you good luck. You were a good opponent.

Korea came in 4th place at the last World Cup behind only the champions Brazil, Germany & Turkey (who had a dream tournament of their own accord)... they beat 3 powerhouse teams Portugal, Italy & Spain during that tourney on their way to the Semi-Finals where they lost to another powerhouse the Germans in a 1-0 game, which opened a lot of eyes as to how well the Reds are capable of playing.

btw, i was in no way, shape or form trying to say Greece totally sucked just because they naturally suck, i don't know where you ever got that impression... i said i was proud of how the Korean team played, which obviously gives credit to their opponent in the process... if they just beat a crappy team 2-0 i wouldn't be saying that.

as far as winning their group, Argentina i think may be the favorites, but i think if Korea plays like it did vs. Greece the other day, they have a real shot.

The Flying Dutchmen with a strong showing today!
PresIke @ 6/14/2010 9:44 AM
first half was kind of eh...but the second better from the oranje....

affellay and elia turned out to be nice subs for them...they made the difference.

huge defensive play by poulsen could keep denmark's chances for getting out of the group alive...

-3 goal difference after the first match would have been a bad obstacle to overcome even with no other super side in the group remaining...

when you play what team seems to matter so much and also seems forgotten sometimes in discussing who gets out of groups...

that late goal for slovenia could be very problematic for the us team, because the next match becomes almost a must win...

if england scorches algeria with a huge goal difference and we only draw with slovenia (nothing else can be acceptable for the us team) england (especially) and slovenia could chill a bit since both would be 1-1-0 with 4 points going into the 3rd match, and the u.s. will be forced to win big against algeria...

however, to check myself...slovenia is not going to feel too confident with only 1 goal difference between the u.s. going into the final group match with the u.s. playing algeria...if it pans out this way...

too much to speculate there at this point, but had algeria escaped with a draw there that could have been much better for the u.s.'s chances of getting out of the group.

Cameroon, what a disappointment.
TMS >> Brazil didn't win the last world cup (2006), Italy did. Korea didn't finish fourth either. I think you were referring to the one before that(2002).
loweyecue @ 6/14/2010 12:14 PM
Waiting to see what Italy does today and then Brazil, the two most successful nations in the history of the world cup.
PresIke @ 6/14/2010 12:19 PM
yeah, korea didn't actually make it out of their group last world cup, after winning their first game as well.

tough loss for cameroon...

i think e'too was misused, and they lacked someone to distribute the ball to him.

that late strike would have been an amazing goal to equalize, but it hit the crossbar...

PresIke @ 6/14/2010 12:23 PM
italy is in a strange place. they may be relying on too many older players, i think, and kept off some guys from the roster that could have been helpful.

they don't have a great striker to score goals, yet they do have some sick defenders and, of course, buffon.

paraguay did well in qualifying. it could be a good match, but i do expect italy to win the match.

it will be interesting to see how brasil does given their group. yes, they have one of the best teams, but they also have a pretty challenging road to get out with portugal and ivory coast.

for those less aware, ronaldinho is also not on brasil...and probably didn't deserve to make it either...he seems to have cashed in his work rate and ambition after his move from barcelona to milan...

i'm most curious to see how drogba does for côte d'voire.

Ivory Coast is somewhat overrated. They don't seem to have the people to get the ball to Drogba - at least hat was the case in the last world cup. Drogba himself is phenomenal and in top form but he is more of a scorer than a creator.

if he has recovered from the injury of the arm, he will be incredibly deadly. Ivory Coast will be an unreal force in the group of Death. If Drogba is 90%, they make it out of the round with Brazil.
dodger78 @ 6/14/2010 2:07 PM
I have Italy loosing to Paraguay tonite!!! Whos with me?!?!
Silverfuel @ 6/14/2010 2:27 PM
Can you guys in Europe post world cup commercials being aired there?
dodger78 @ 6/14/2010 2:29 PM
You talking bout stuff like this?!
Silverfuel @ 6/14/2010 2:32 PM
^yeah man. That is prolly the best commercial ever but i have watched it so many times it has gotten old.
dodger78 @ 6/14/2010 2:34 PM

i hear you. i am curious to watch gervinho's performance...i could see him causing problems for teams and perhaps being a creator...he's young though...i don't think ivory coast is that great, but they have some very good players.
