C'mon man, we called Vietnam vets Baby killers and spit on them for serving.

We got crazy people right here at home also. Plenty of whack jobs. We got bad cops, bad postal workers, office workers jacking off in personal drinking water, etc etc.....Whats different about a few bad men in uniform? History im sure has plenty of soldiers going off and losing their grip. It happened in Vietnam also. We at least have rules an take these guys out. Other armies promote them.

Be cool and don't indict the whole lot of them. You might not agree with the war but these guys are into the politics of it.

Thats a thing?

But seriously, there are hundreds of thousands of soldiers so mathematically there will be a bunch of fuck ups too.

All part of the dehumanization and demonizing of certain people in Iraq and Afghanistan which began under Bush. Once you get rid of the guilt which we attach to the killing of other people, it is easier to do these kinds of things to other humans.

For every incident that gets reported there are a 100 that gets covered up. In this case you had one guy playing whistle blower in spite of being beaten up and under threat of life.

George Bush told them to do it.

This is all pretty sad. The Winfield kids dad was on NPR about 4-5 days ago.
Sad for the victims. Sad for the boys in the outfit. Sad for the US troops.
Sad for the relations of our peoples.

If even half of this is true. The leaders should be shot by firing squad and may well be.

This what War does with people. Slowly... day by day...
And then you are not a human anymore.
I saw this guys in Soviet Union after they were back from Afgan.
They were finished. Gone...
So no surprise there.

War is Hell... it makes people do things they would never normally do... there are always going to be bad apples to make the brave men & women who serve in our military look bad... this is a very small sample of the predominantly heroic individuals that are fighting for our country.

like what akrud said. The way to prevent this is not go to war and ship out men who are barely 20 out for their 2nd and 3rd tours to a place where everyone hates them.

All of us have a wild animal inside covered by layer of human culture. Some thin like paper, some deep to the core.
The War removes the thin layer and animal is exposed... and starting to kill.
If soldier fights for his land, to protect his family and everything he likes it make Heroes.
If soldier is fighting to fill Oil, drag lords, and corrupt politicians pockets it makes madness and rage.

loweyecue @ 9/28/2010 11:00 PM
Arkud, I am with you on this. This is the cost of war, and this is exactly what is wrong with war.
Vmart @ 9/29/2010 11:43 AM
War is and always will be dirty. Those guys that are killing people are sick from war, drugs. But the sickest are the ones that sanction war in the first place it is a chain of command of orders passed on from top to bottom. The orders come form the top for war those guys f'ing sit pretty while they let young kids go out there and get shot and killed. War on terrorism. What the f is that you can't distinguish terrorist from regular people who just want to live their lives in peace.

War is dirty its just the way it is.

War Inc, is one of the best run corporations in the US. If it was privately traded I would invest heavily in it because when it comes to investing I am completely agnostic of a company's philosophy and only look at its performance. Think about it, this corporation has the ability to package complete fantasies about non existent threats and sell it to congress in order to rake in multi billion dollar funding year after year. And the level of hero worship and glorification of the military that exists in this country ensures that they act with complete impunity and minimum accountability. And acts of barbarism such as this get written off as being isolated incidents. -- I am not saying this is not an isolated incident, it may well be, but there is no appetite at all for even a look under the covers to see if there is a more systemic problem where we are consistently hiring people with very poor judgement and arming them to the teeth before we let them lose of foreign nationals.

If you think it is all money you are oversimplify...
Yep, money is a big part of this, but also some people on top in US are playing God and think we are entitled to "progress" some "underdeveloped" nations for their own good.
And they think that killing some good portion of them along the way is acceptable price.
No nation can be "progressed" from outside. Even if we succeed we will produce the nations of beggars without self-respect and without future.
For our own sanity we must leave them alone, let them get into flow of human civilization or self-destruct as it happened in the history of mankind so many times.
