Scroll down so that at the top of your monitor you only see the two legs and the tail.

Note the way it is turning. Close your eyes, picture it reversing direction. Really picture it.

Open your eyes.

Why doesn't he ever need to eat or use the litter box?

I think it is programmed to change direction. There are 3 shaded areas. If I put the cursor over the middble of the shaded area on the left, it changes direction. Same with the middle on the right. Also the bottom left corner box. Can others try this and see if it changes?

can you explain that better because no matter how I look at the cat, it goes counterclockwise... and that i can't make it do both is driving me nuts

The best way to see it go clockwise is make reference points. If you are facing the computer screen you are 12 o'clock. The white circle in the back ground is 6 o'clock. Follow the nose of the cat or paw you will see it go clockwise.

As for counterclockwise turn away from your screen and try to look at the cat with corner of you eye it will look as though it is going counterclockwise.

Depends on what point of view. From the top view it is counterclockwise from the bottom it is clockwise.

I tried all ofnthese but it always seems to turn counterclockwise for me. BTW the idea of setting your near side as 12 o'clock and the far side as 6, kind of defeats the purpose.
