Knicks · Gallo is sucking the life out of the Knicks (page 2)

I guess if you are blocking shots, rebounding and extremely aggressive on defense, and attacking when you are on offense you are perceived differently.
I think Amare will come around but - his defense has not been good and he's been a turnover machine. I'm disappointed in Gallo but there is plenty of blame to go around.

I really hope we trade this bum soon.I guess this is your new Knick to hate now that Lee is gone, has taken his all star game to GS and has that team among the best in the West? Yes.. Its all Gallo's fault. And his haircut.

I wonder how many Playoff games Golden State will win with David Lee as their starting PF.
None.

I totally disagree with this. Gallo is a very good player that is being misused in this system he maybe playing hurt which should be respected in its own way. Personally I would sit him until he is better. The culprit behind the losing is MDA, I respect what he did with the Suns but he needs to adjust and come up with a new approach to the team he has. If MDA isn't able to adjust to his talent then it will be a long season. So far MDA has failed the team with very poor game planning. Lack of execution of game plan. Players are to free to jack up shots on the whim. This system currently run by the Knicks is a fail system. MDA needs to adjust just as Pat Riley adjusted to his talents from Showtime to Knicks and Heat. A coach cannot have one approach to a game and continue to do it even when it is a failed system. MDA has failed to realize in game adjustment. Last night team makes a comeback by driving consistently to the hoop. They break away from what was working to go back to jacking threes, this is an example of poor in game management.
I'm a believer that it isn't always the coaches fault. In Brown's case, it was the players the last two years it was the players because the team had a bigger goal of getting cap space. this year it not about the players its on the coach to bring it all together and he needs to look himself in the mirror and ask himself what he can do to better utilize the talent he has. That is one of marks of a great coach, is his ability to adjust to the talent he has and bringing out the best in them. This is not a three point shooting team and he needs to realize that. There has to be a higher level of execution by the Knicks. This team is playing sloppy basketball, taking ill advised shots thats on the coach for poor preperation.

Great post, Vmart. I'm with you. Perhaps, we can excuse d'Antoni for the two years (minus some personnel management) but he's got to get his shit together and take responsibility for this team. He's on the clock as far as I'm concerned. I'd give him 30 games maximum to start acting like a coach to this team, instead of what he's been doing so far.

your too funny... first they wont win with him. Now they wont win playoff games. Next it will be they wont advance, bla bla bla. Your just pissy cause the boy you love to trash is a) winning and b)smoked us last night. Maybe you just couldnt dig Lee's haircut cause the guys a hell of a good player
Important is his rebounding has been better the last few games. We lost those games.
Feltons TO's are hurting us as is getting Amare into a groove where he does not have to work so damn hard to get a shot off.
I was impressed with our defensive effort last nite and that we came back from 19 pts. We can't get too far down as it just kills most teams (execpt Utah who seems to thrive being down!). That comeback on the back end of a second game on two nites is tough.
Turnovers are sucking the life out of the knicks!
As a side note, Milwaukee pretty much took apart ATL in ATL.
We are playing good teams and other than Bucks game we stay close even when we lose.
Im not in Panic mode by far.
Can't say the last two games were fun to watch, but this is how it goes.
Vmart wrote:Great post. I think what is most alarming is that a lot of the coaching deficiencies that are coming up are the same that came up the past two years. To some degree your right about MDA needing to make adjustments, but the adjustment starts with the PG. With felton, it's difficult, you have the speed and strength to get up and down the court, but he doesn't exactly know when to pass or when to shoot all to many times. You can't just stop running the PnR when it's a staple of you half court offense, everthing you do, is surrounded by your PnR.
Same thing with the 3 ball, it's 50% of your offensive game plan.
If your going to be A team that shoots 3's like a contest, then you would think that they would bring in players who shoot 3's a high pct at all cost, not Avg or below avg shooters. You think WC will get an invite to the 3 point shoot out during allstar wknd...hell no, cause thats not his game, but we use him as if it is.
They got gallo particularly for his 3 point shooting, not to have him driving the lanes like some would want. You don't trade for shag, then pull your hair out because he can't knock down a 15 footer. He does mix it up (took 7 ft's last night) but don't expect that to be the norm, because that ain't his game..You want him to do what his really good at doing..RIGHT..
Do you hire a cop and tell him to fight the case in court cause he knows the law like a lawyer..

Papabear Says
I wonder how many games will the Knicks win in the playoffs this season? NONE Will we make the playoffs? No!!
umynot wrote:Gallo got to Shoot ball 9 times!!!Came away with 15 points and 3 assists( Second on team tonight!)
How the fuck was this his fault?
I have played way too many games and I will say this NO ONE IS GONNA WIN OR LOSE A GAME
SHOOTING ONLY 9 SHOTS PERIOD!!!TD had more shots and the Ball in his hands more the Gallo by far and had less production!!
Less points less assists By the fukcing way!!Chandler scored more but he took 20 shots!!.... More then double Gallo
Gallo out rebounded everybody other the Stat with 7 as well
2 Steals......9 for 9 from line ( but all he does is shoot 3's)
Only thing we don't need to worry about is Gallo's 3's falling! By years end he will lead our team by a far margin in Made
3's unless he is traded then he will lead another team in 3'sGallo also got 2 steals and dont recall his man scoring big in game either? Guards killed us tonight as did
Lee.....Blaming Gallo just sounds dumb!!
Word. This is a really useless thread. Gallo had an ok game. He needs to get better looks before releasing the three. If he doesn't have a good look, he needs to take it closer for a mid-range shot, a pass to an open cutter or big, or just take it all the way to the hole.
Blaming Gallo for this loss is ridiculous. Blame the guards and the turnover machine. Blame the weak interior defense and uninspired rebounding.

Just... retarded.

holy shit! did you read gallo's quotes in there? damn. talk about mindfucked from the trade talk. he sounds like a shell of his confident self...

He was just trying to show some humility in the face of his sucking lately. Just because he didn't talk smack and claim he is the future best player in the universe doesn't mean he's lost all of his confidence. He's down right now and just happened to get asked the question when he's off his game.
If the same reporter asks him again later in the season about his upside, he will still be humble and say "Dirk, but with better defense". I don't knock the guy for showing humility when asked if he will be on Lebron's level. I mean, WTF is he supposed to say? Gallo: "I am the next Larry Bird, but right now my shot i off. Don't worry, I will save the team with my exceptional shooting ability, tenacious defense, and amazing rebounding".
GMAFB. He's going to be fine. Yes, his confidence has been disturbed by all the Melo talk. But once he gets his feet under him and starts banging down three's, getting to the charity stripe and picking up his game, he will have all the swagger a confident (yet humble) Euro-star should have. He'll be fine.
Yeah, I think Tommy Dee has it right. There are 5 superstars in the league. HE says even dirk is not a superstar.
I kind of agree. Gallo won't be a superstar but he could have an all star type year here and there and be a dangerous player.
They lost, the kid is a bit deflated and thas a decent answer. Its real. No need to have 10 tatoos reminding yourself of motivation. If he works hard it will come.
He has expectations on him this year. Dealing with pressure to perform and win is not easy.

i hope you are right. he just doesn't sound confident right now. the fact that he brought up melo without any prompting makes me feel like it's in his head.
